PERSONS, FAMILIES, AND CORPORATE BODIES ASSOCIATED WITH AN EXPRESSION 20.2.1.2 20 PERSONS, FAMILIES, AND CORPORATE BODIES ASSOCIATED WITH AN EXPRESSION 20.0 Purpose and Scope This chapter provides general guidelines and instructions on recording relationships to persons, families, and corporate bodies associated with an expression (e.g., editors, translators, illustrators, performers). 20.1 General Guidelines on Recording Persons, Families, and Corporate Bodies Associated with an Expression 20.1.1 Sources of Information Take information on persons, families, and corporate bodies associated with an expression from statements appearing on the preferred sources of information (see 2.2.2) in resources embodying the expression. If those statements are ambiguous or insufficient, use the following sources of information, in order of preference: a) other statements appearing prominently in the resources b) information appearing only in the content of the resources (e.g., the text of a book, the sound content of an audio recording) c) other sources. For instructions on recording changes in responsibility for multipart monographs, serials, and integrating resources, see 18.4.2. 20.1.2 Recording Persons, Families, and Corporate Bodies Associated with an Expression Record the persons, families, and corporate bodies associated with the expression as instructed at 20.2. If: the resource being described is an aggregate resource containing two or more expressions and each of the expressions is associated with different persons, families, or corporate bodies then: record the persons, families, and corporate bodies associated with each of the expressions (see 20.2). 20.2 Contributor 20.2.1 Basic Instructions on Recording Contributors 20.2.1.1 Scope A contributor is a person, family, or corporate body contributing to an expression. Contributors include editors, translators, arrangers of music, performers, etc. In some cases, an expression consists of a primary work accompanied by commentary, etc., illustrations, additional musical parts, etc. When this occurs, the writers of commentary, etc., illustrators, composers of additional parts, etc., are considered to be contributors. 20.2.1.2 Sources of Information Take information on contributors from the sources specified at 20.1.1.
