REGISTRAR OF VOTERS
Every voter can be sure that their vote by mail ballot will be counted as long as they sign the
return envelope and the ballot is received in our office, at any polling place or at a Vote By Mail
Assistance Center before 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
Return ballot envelopes which are
postmarked on Election Day will count if they are received in our office by the third business
day after the election. All vote by mail ballots are counted in every contest before the results of
the election are certified no later than the 28th day after the election.
We begin processing thousands of vote by mail ballots as we receive them in the weeks before
the election. It takes about two days from our receipt of a vote by mail ballot until it is entered
into our database. Vote by mail ballots received after the Saturday before the election are
processed beginning the day after the election and are usually completed within 7 days of
Election Day.
Please return to this site during these time frames to check the status of your
ballot.
With approximately 90% of our voters now voting by mail and with more than half of those
ballots processed and counted before Election Day, the initial results released at 8:01 p.m.
Election Night are usually a clear reflection of the trends for that election unless a contest is
extremely close.
