There is little economic benefit to further coastal defence measures. It is an isolated area, and the main land uses are agriculture and recreation. It is an environmentally sensitive area and lies within a cSAC and SSSI.. Management Unit Title PEMBROKESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL PART B - Management Unit Details SHORELINE MANAGEMENT PLAN STAGE 2 Porth Clais to Ynys Bery (Ramsey) (18STJ/B) Physical Environment • Coastal Processes - Generally sheltered by Ramsey Island although south westerly seas are likely to affect local anchorages. • Geomorphology - The shoreline comprises 35m high cliffs of thickly bedded purple sandstone dipping at 60. • Controls & MU Interaction - Limited, if any, interaction with adjacent bays. • Shoreline Evolution - limited evolutionary change over the next 50 years Natural Environment • Landscape - The National Trust Own the Coastal land between Whitesands Bay and Porth Clais , Heritage Coast. • Coastal Habitats and Species - . Subtidal and intertidal rock substrate extends around most of the open coast of the cSAC, particularly around the Marloes / Dale and St David’s peninsulas and around, between and offshore from the many islands and small islets • Designations – Pembrokeshire Islands cSAC, St Davids Peninsula SSSI. Human and Built Environment • Principle Land-uses – Farmland, settlement of Porthlisky is situated inland (away from any risk of erosion).
