Installing the VMware Horizon View Client Installing the VMware Horizon View Client on Windows 1. Open a web browser. 2. Type https://desktop.keyano.ca/ in the address bar and hit enter. 3. Click on “Install VMware Horizon View Client”: 4. Determine if your computer is running 32 bit Windows or 64 bit Windows: a. To determine if your computer is running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows Vista do the following: i. Open System by clicking the Start button , right-clicking Computer, and then click on Properties. ii. Under System, you can view the system type. b. If your computer is running Windows XP, do the following: i. Click Start. ii. Right-click My Computer and then click Properties. 1. If you don't see "x64 Edition" listed, then you're running the 32-bit version of Windows XP. 2. If "x64 Edition" is listed under System, you're running the 64-bit version of Windows XP. 5. Select “Go to Downloads” next to “VMware Horizon Client for 32-bit Windows” or “VMware Horizon Client for 64-bit Windows” based on your computer specifications aquired in the previous step: One of these 6. Hit “Download” button: 7. Once the file is downloaded, find the setup file on your computer (usually in the downloads folder) and run it. 1 8. The User Account Control window may appear. Click “Yes” if it appears. If it does not appear, you can skip to step 9: 9. Click “Next” to proceed with the install: 10. Read and accept the End-User License Agreement by checking the “I accept the terms in the License Agreement” checkbox and click “Next”: 2 11. Click “Next”: 12. In the “Default View Connection Server” field, enter “desktop.keyano.ca” and then click “next”: 13. Click “next”: 3 14. Click “next”: 15. Click “Install”: 16. Once the install is complete, click “Finish”: 17. Click “Yes” to restart your computer: 4 18. Once your computer has restarted, you will see the following icon on your desktop. Double click on it to run the software: 19. Double click on the Cloud icon labeled “desktop.keyano.ca”: 20. Enter your Keyano Username and Password and click on “Login”. 21. Double click on icon labeled “Keyano Lab” to activate your connection. 5 22. After a few seconds, you will see a windows screen appear with the Keyano College terms of use. Click “Ok” to log into your desktop: 23. Once you are logged in, you will see shortcuts to common programs on the desktop. All installed programs can be found by clicking the start menu and clicking “All Programs”. WARNING: No information will be retained on the Keyano Lab computer. Every time you disconnect, the system will go back to defaults and erase personal files. Save your files to a thumb drive or cloud storage such as OneDrive or Dropbox: 6 24. Once you have finished you can disconnect from the desktop by selecting “Shutdown”, “Restart”, or “Log off” from the start menu: 25. To connect to your desktop again, follow steps 18 through 24. 7
