I’m excited to see the weather warm up and to see everyone getting back out on the golf course. We have finalized the 2017 golf schedule and created a junior booklet describing all junior camps and clinics throughout the year. The booklet can be picked up in the golf shop or found on the Summit Chase website. We encourage everyone to bring friends, family, and colleagues to Summit Chase to show off the course. We’re offering an annual guest pass to pre-purchase 10 rounds of golf for $350 which includes range balls, cart fees and greens fees. We are also looking to book small group golf outings or leagues. Please see me about availability. We also have some great new membership offers, so if you have any friends, family or colleagues who might be interested in becoming members please bring them by the club. I went to the PGA show in Orlando last month and purchased a launch monitor which measures the speed, launch angle, spin rate and distance of a golf ball, all of which are fundamental in finding the perfect club for your swing. We have a Titleist and Ping fitting cart stocked with drivers, fairways, hybrids, and irons for you to try. If there is anything that you would like to see in the shop or anything that I can special order for you or your company, please don’t hesitate to ask. We can custom order shirts with your company logo through our vendors. Stop by my office if you have any questions. See you on the links! Please mark your calendars for the following schedule for cultural practices for our greens. On Monday, March 6 we will do a deep tine (no topdressing sand) aerification on the greens. This allows us to get a solid tine 6”- 8” deep to help wake up the green by getting warmer air down into the green. By not adding sand, this should not affect the playing conditions very much at all. Once completed, we will roll greens to smooth them out and the opening of the hole will be less than ½” at a 3”x3” spacing. This should get our greens growing so that when we do our double aerification (back to back) April 3 and 4, as well as 10 and 11, so we will complete the spring aerification when the greens are growing the best and we can get the most root growth for the season. Our experimenting on this last year provided good results during, as you may remember, a very long hot summer. We have completed our summer pre-emerge for the golf course and now is the time to make sure you have your lawn protected from the ugly summer weeds, like crabgrass and goose grass. One of the best products for most home lawns would be a product that contains barricade (prodiamine) as the active ingredient. Make sure it is applied as label recommends for best results. Thank you for the feedback we have received on the tree removal at hole #17. This will provide more sunlight to grow better turf in those areas. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to stop me on the course, call at 770-972-2857, or email [email protected]. WEHNER CAKE SUBMITTED BY ALICIA WEHNER Ingredients 2 sticks butter (salted)-room temp 1.5 pkgs cream cheese-room temp 6 eggs-room temp ½ tsp salt 3 cups sugar 3 cups all purpose flour (sifted) 4-8 tsp vanilla (more the better I say) Directions -Butter and flour the Bundt pan so cake does not stick. I would not use non-stick spray. -Combine butter and cream cheese in a mixer or with a hand mixer. Whip for 3-5 minutes until fluffy -Slowly add sugar and mixture should get fluffier. -Add salt -On slowest speed, add eggs one at a time, incorporating fully before adding the next egg. Once all are added, whip on med speed for 1-2 mins. -On slowest speed, add flour little by little. Once fully incorporated, stop mixing. -Put cake mix in the pan, ensuring even on the top. -Place cake in cool oven. Set temp for 200. Bake for 20 min. YES, the cake is IN the oven during the heating process. -Increase temp to 250. Bake 20 min. -Increase temp to 275. Bake 10 min. -Increase temp to 300. Bake 60 min. Check cake with a toothpick. When it pulls out with just granules of cake, and not liquid, you are good to go! Note: If your pan is a dark non-stick, this timing should be almost precise. If you use a stoneware pan, usually need 15-30 min additional. Enjoy! 8 re: MEMBER MARCH 2017 FRIDAY NIGHT DINING Each Friday night we offer a la carte dining which includes a weekly featured appetizer, delicious filet mignon, several of our finest entrée presentations, and our famous homemade desserts.
