Our New Location is Just a Hop,
Skip, and Jump Away!
Our new North End location opened October
3rd! We’re easy to find in the Meridian complex at
19638 Leitersburg Pike, Suite 100.
While we are very excited about our new location, we were
sad to say goodbye to the Commonwealth Avenue location. It has
permanently closed and those employees have transferred to the
new location.
The new location now has both a full service ATM and a video
drive-thru window. We will also have Saturday hours from 9am to
noon at this location. This will be in addition to the Saturday
hours at the Williamsport location!
Watch your mailbox for the grand opening celebration
announcement in the near future!

Maryland State Law requires that all
savings accounts have a deposit or
withdrawal within a three year period
or the account must be reported and
the balance sent to the State.
Although State Law allows for a
transaction once every three years, we
at WCTFCU recommend performing a
transaction once every year so that it is
a routine and annual
dormant account fees
of $25 can be avoided.

your account lately,

*Annual Percentage Yield (APY). The APY assumes that all interest will remain on
deposit until maturity. Early withdrawals are subject to penalty and may reduce earnings.
Upon maturity, all funds will be deposited into the member’s share
savings account.
Hey, Mom, Dad, or Teacher,
What's a Credit Union?
If your kids are reaching the age where they're ready to open a
savings account, they may be aware that the word "bank" has some
negative associations associated with it.
The repercussions of the financial recession are still reverberating
through the culture and the reputation of big banks have not fully
recovered. So if your eager young savers are wondering why they
should trust their hard-earned allowance to a bank, you can explain
that a credit union isn't a bank.
But how do you explain to kids that a credit union is so much more?
Well, a credit union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative, so its
foundational principles include things like helping the community and
educating members. But that’s a difficult concept for a kid to
understand.
So keep it simple. Tell them a credit union is a friendly place
where people come together to help each other save and lend money.
And unlike a bank, a credit union doesn't want to take your money
and use it to make more money for people far away on Wall Street.
Instead, the credit union is there to help them—and their families
—make good money decisions.
Ultimately, a credit union exists to make them and their
community stronger.
