ENCHANTMENT AWAITS!
STAGES ST. LOUIS PRESENTS DISNEY’S SLEEPING BEAUTY
(ST. LOUIS) –STAGES St. Louis brings to life another beloved Princess in Disney’s Sleeping Beauty
(June 18 – June 29), performed at the Skip Viragh Center for the Arts at Chaminade College Preparatory
School. Disney’s classic fairy tale is retold on stage in a magical production full of breathtaking dance
and the glorious music of Peter Tchaikovsky, including the beautiful “Once Upon a Dream.” With
charming characters including regal royalty, slimy goons, as well as magical fairies and animal friends,
Disney’s Sleeping Beauty is a treasured treat guaranteed to enchant audiences!
Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty graced the silver screen in 1959 as the sixteenth animated film in Disney’s
classic series. Based on Charles Perrault’s literary tale, “Sleeping Beauty in the Wood,” Sleeping Beauty
marked the final Disney adaptation of a classic fairy tale (after Disney’s death, the studio returned to the
genre in 1989 with The Little Mermaid). In 2014, the famed princess story returned to the screen with a
darker film, Maleficent, now retold through the perspective of the 1959 Disney film’s iconic villain. With
the movie currently in theatres, the stage production of Disney’s Sleeping Beauty presents the perfect
opportunity to introduce families to the original fairy tale.
Born into a wondrous world of beauty, song, and privilege, sweet Princess Aurora cannot escape the spell
cast upon her by the evil sorceress Maleficent. By sunset on her sixteenth birthday, the young princess is
fated to prick her finger on the cursed spindle and fall into a long deep slumber, only to be awakened by
true love’s kiss. With a little hocus-pocus from the enchanted wands of the adoring fairies Flora, Fauna,
and Merryweather, the spellbound Prince Phillip rescues his love and all their dreams come true!
St. Louis Actress Berklea Going stars as the beloved Princess Aurora. Going performed her first role at
STAGES at the age of ten and has performed in numerous regional theatres throughout the country. Later
this summer she can be seen in The Muny’s production of Hello, Dolly!
St. Louis Actor Charlie Ingram returns to STAGES as Prince Phillip. Ingram last appeared in STAGES
2012 production of The Sound of Music. A recent graduate of The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at
Webster University, he was most recently in their production of Into the Woods.
St. Louis Actress Morgan Amiel Faulkner makes her STAGES debut as Maleficent. Recent credits
include A Christmas Carol, Anything Goes, and the tour of The Man in Black Show, starring June Carter.
