Energy Saving Tips for Washing Machine
On energy-efficient washing...
Buy a front-loading
machine. They use two-
thirds less water than toploaders, reducing water
cost.
Do not overwash the
clothes.Delicate and gently worn clothes don't need
as long of a wash cycle as
soiled, sturdy clothes.
On energy-efficient drying...
Load the washing machine to capacity when
possible. Most people tend
Wash clothes on the shortest cycle and
with the lowest water level that's practical
for your needs.
Lightweight items
take less drying
time, so don’t waste
dryer time by throwing your undergarments
and t-shirts in together with your towels and
rugs.
Do not overdry clothes.
Dry similar fabrics
together.

overload their washers.
Soak heavily soiled
items before washing, and rub collars or
other stains with
household soap.
Separate light
and heavy items
before drying.
Make sure the machine is full and if possible do all your drying
in one go.
Take clothes out while they
are still slightly damp to reduce the need for ironing.
Don’t used timed cycles as they may carry on working longer
than you need. Keep
checking the dryer and
stop the cycle when your laundry is dry.
Clean the filters every time you use
your dryer to make sure they're free
from fluff and your dryer will operate
more efficiently.
Only dry clothes as much as necessary. Far better to limit the drying to what
is absolutely necessary.
