Planning for Your Future
Tax Sheltered Annuities (TSA)
 The IRS allows individuals to reduce their taxable income by saving for
retirement
 The maximum contribution to a TSA in 2015 is $18,000
 If you are 50 or older on December 31, 2015
you are also allowed a catch up contribution
of up to $6,000

Won’t be able to enroll until next Open Enrollment period, unless

Insurance is effective the first day of the month following

Plans will be in effect through June 30, 2017
Sick Leave Bank & Disability
The Sick Leave Bank (SLB) is a voluntary program for eligible
employees
 Must enroll online within the first 30 days of employment
 Designed to help employees that have exhausted their allotted paid leave. It is a means
of obtaining additional paid sick days
 Can help employees avoid or postpone going on unpaid medical leave
DPS provides Long Term Disability to eligible employees at no cost
 60% of monthly earnings after a 90 day waiting period
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
DPS offers three types of FSA accounts:
 Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (HC FSA)
 If you fund an HSA, you can only fund a
Limited Purpose Healthcare FSA
 Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DC FSA)
 Qualified Transportation Benefits (both transit and parking benefits)

Basic Life Insurance
DPS provides basic life insurance and AD&D at no cost
 Active full time employees life benefit: 2x annual earnings (up to $300,000)
 Active full-time employee AD&D benefit: 2x annual earnings (up to $300,000)
 Benefit-eligible part-time (hourly) employee life benefit: $2,500
Supplemental Life Insurance
Full-time Employees can purchase supplemental insurance for:
 Employee: $10,000 increments up to $500,000
 ($100,000 guarantee issue amount within first 30 days)
 Spouse: $10,000 increments up to $100,000
 ($20,000 guarantee issue amount within first 30 days)
 Dependent Children: $2000 or $5000 with some age restrictions

ProComp: What is the Professional
Compensation System?
ProComp is Denver’s performance-based teacher
compensation system. Denver voters approved funding
for ProComp in 2005, and it has set a new national
standard for rewarding and recognizing teacher
excellence.
• ProComp links the following ingredients to improve student
achievement:
• Best practices in teaching and learning
• Tools and data for measuring student growth
• Knowledgeable and motivated professional staff
• Evaluation of teaching practices

ProComp Salary Increases –
First year of Teaching: Advanced degrees, licenses and PDUs can be
