I Said A Prayer for You Today
I said a prayer for you today
And know God must have heard
I felt the answer in my heart
Although He spoke no word
I did not ask for wealth or fame
I knew you would not mind
I asked Him to send treasures
Of a far more lasting kind
I asked that he’d be near you
At the start of each new day
To grant you health and blessings
And friends to share your way
I asked for happiness for you
In all things great and small
But it was for His loving care
I prayed the most of all.

The Obituary
“Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee,
when my heart is overwhelmed.
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
Psalm 61:1-2
On Monday, December 14, 2009, our beloved mother, sister,
grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Doris G. Mosley journeyed
home to eternal rest. She was predeceased by her husband, Romeo L. Mosley,
Sr.
Doris was born December 20, 1934 to the late Thomas and Mary
Ghee in Norfolk, VA. She was known affectionately by family and friends as
“Sis”. She was a 1953 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and
remained active with the high school alumni association.
Doris was a long standing member of First Trinity A.M.E. Church
where she served as a Steward of the church, Vacation Bible School teacher
and on the Missionary Board. She was a member of the Eastern Star and
Beulah Temple #4. Doris retired from the Department of the Navy in 1989
as a purchasing agent.
She is survived by two daughters, LaVerne Stallings (Albert) and
Stephanie Mosley; one son, Romeo L. Mosley, Jr.; one sister, Eunice Woods;
five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and
friends. She truly loved her family and will be greatly missed.
When I must leave you for a little while,
Please do not grieve and shed wild tears;
And hug your sorrows to you through the years,
But start out bravely with a gallant smile;
And for my sake and in my name
Live on and do all things the same,
Feed not your loneliness on empty days.
But fill each waking hour in useful ways.
Reach out your hands in comfort and in cheer,
And I in turn will comfort you and hold you near;
And never, never be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you in the sky.
