Thank you for your continued efforts to stop the proposed Assisted Suicide Bill in California, SB 128
(End of Life Option Act). While the bill has been halted in committee for now, it can come back at any
time between now and July 7 for a vote. It is critical to have our faithful continue to call their
legislators in the California Assembly to keep the bill from moving forward this legislative year.

Safeguard the Children
HELP CHILDREN BE AWARE OF UNHEALTHY BEHAVIOR AMONG OTHERS
Children have more opportunities to be out of your immediate sight during the summer. It’s
important to remind your child that if another child or adult – including people they know and
trust – try to touch them inappropriately they should: Say NO and GET AWAY from any person
or situation that makes them feel scared, uncomfortable or confused. Tell them to TRUST THEIR
FEELINGS and be sure to TELL a trusted adult. And it’s never too late to tell a trusted adult what
happened. For a copy of the article called “Know the Rules…Summer Safety Tips to Teach Children”
from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, email: [email protected].

It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most
exquisitely beautiful pictures. St. André Bessette.
All gifts to the Holy Family Service Center to help our brothers
and sisters in Christ are worthy gifts. There is no need to wait
for better day to help a neighbor. The dollar or two you put in
the envelopes in the pews, the cans of corn you can spare, the
handbag you no longer use, and the time you spend to gather
these with a spirit of love and deliver them to us, are all
expressions of God's great love. How can they be small when
God's love is itself infinite?
Especially Needed Items
Toiletries: toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo,

2015 PLEDGE
UPDATE
Our Parish’s Assigned Goal:
Amount Pledged:
Amount Paid:
Remaining Balance:
$91,500.00
$85,769.00
$64,124.00
$27,376.00
The monthly pledge billings for the Together in Mission pledges have been mailed. It is very important that
these pledges be paid, so that our Parish will reach and, hopefully, exceed our goal. Once the pledge payments
have exceeded our goal, we receive all of the additional funds for use in our Parish Ministries. Please
remember that if we do not meet our assigned goal, the parish is responsible for paying the deficit.
Next weekend July 11 & 12 the National Needs Combined Collection will take place.
The following appeals and campaigns will benefit from this Collection. Please give generously.
CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS APPEAL - Launched in 1998, the Appeal strengthens the Catholic
Church in the United States and its territories in 87 Latin and Eastern Catholic dioceses.
The Subcommittee on the Catholic Home Missions funds a wide range of pastoral services,
including evangelization, religious education, and the maintenance of mission parishes,
the training of seminarians and lay ministers, and ministry with ethnic groups.
CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN - The essential mission of the CCC is to contribute to the process of
evangelization by fostering activities in relation to television, radio, internet, and other media, and through special
projects of the Catholic press. An annual collection is taken up in the dioceses, which remit 50% of the funds collected to
the National Office. From these funds, grants are made by the USCCB Subcommittee on the Catholic Communication
Campaign. The remaining portion of the collection is retained by the dioceses for use in local communication projects.
BLACK AND INDIAN MISSIONS - Mandated by the III Plenary Council in 1884, the 125 year old National
Collection for Black and Indian people continues as the embodiment of the Church’s concern for
evangelizing the Black and Indian peoples of the United States. The funds are distributed as grants to
dioceses throughout the United States, supporting and strengthening evangelization programs which
otherwise would cease. The Collection was formerly known as The Black and Indian Home Mission Collection.
CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA - Provides funding for academic scholarships at The Catholic University of
America in Washington, DC in response to the commitment made by the bishops at its foundation in 1887. It is the only
U.S. university with Pontifical faculties. Students are enrolled from all 50 states and almost 100 countries in 12 schools.
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS
Since the days of the Apostles, becoming a Christian has been
accomplished by a journey and initiation in several stages. RCIA
(The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is for anyone from teen
to senior who wants to know more about the beliefs and practices of the
Catholic Church with a view to receiving the Sacraments of Initiation:
Baptism, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation. We will be accepting
registrations at our table outside church on the following Sundays:
July 26 and August 23, 2015, from 9am to 1pm. The registration fee
is $150. The journey will begin on Tuesday, July 7, from 7 to 9 pm
in the Parish Center. For more information, please contact
Debra Burley at 818-907-0257 or [email protected].
