After reading “Dust Bowl” from World Book, and completing the “Dust Bowl and Drought” lesson from Journey Back in
Time, explain the impact the drought and dust bowl had on the Great Depression.
1. First, log into World Book from the Kyrene Educational Resources site. Then click the link “Dust Bowl”. Read this
article. Take notes using Cornell notes as you read.
2. Watch the short video, “Dust Storm”; look at the map and the picture on the World Book page.
3. Next, open lesson #45 in Journey Back in Time. Read the article. As you read, view all the primary source documents
included in the lesson. Add to your Cornell notes as you read.
4. Answer the multiple choice quiz and email your answers to your teacher.
5. Now, write a detailed paragraph explaining how the drought and dust bowl impacted the Great Depression. Use the
photos and videos to support your response.
