1. Everyone knows that when we forgive others it helps the person we forgive.
2. But when you forgive someone, it isn’t just for the person who hurt you,
forgiveness is for you too.
Read the situations, show the children the “Forgive Me Pictures,” and discuss how they should react.

I’m going to show you a picture of a kid and read you a situation.
Then we will talk about how you should react.
Someone cuts in front of you in the lunch line.
What would you feel like doing? (Pushing back, yelling, being in a bad mood.)
How can you show forgiveness? (Not yelling, asking if the person needs help with their tray.)
Someone steals your lunch money.
What would you feel like doing? (Being angry, finding out who did it and getting even.)
What if you don’t know who did it? How can you show forgiveness? (Don’t be angry about losing the money,
pray for the person who did it.)
9. Your friend puts a scratch on your favorite CD.
10. What would you feel like doing? (Scratching your friend’s CD, never letting them touch your things.)
11. How can you show forgiveness? (Forgive your friend, listen to CD’s with your friend.)
12. Someone accidentally knocks over your science project when you weren’t looking.
13. What would you feel like doing? (Knocking over their project.)
14. How can you show forgiveness? (Say you forgive them.)
15. Someone lies to the teacher about you.
16. What would you feel like doing? (Telling lies about that person to the principal, writing them a mean note.)
17. Without knowing who this is, how can you show forgiveness? (Let all your friends know that you have forgiven the person who did it.)
18. A friend of yours makes a comment about what you’re wearing and hurts your feelings but later apologizes.
19. What would you feel like doing? (Quit being his/her friend.)
20. How can you show forgiveness? (Tell them you forgive them, think of something nice to say to them.)
21. How does forgiving the person help them? (You won’t be angry with them, you won’t try to get back at them, you
won’t keep reminding them of it, you won’t hold it against them.)
22. How does forgiving the person help you? (You can forget about it, you don’t feel angry all the time.)
23. Do you think you should still be friends with this person? (Yes, no, only if they don’t do it again.)
1. You don’t have to be best friends with people who hurt you, but you need to forgive them.
2. If you harbor anger it only hurts you.
3. You didn’t need to be friends with all these people but what one thing did you do?
(Forgive them.)
