I.GENERALRULES

A. UNFORSEENCIRCUMSTANCES
1. If,intheopinionofthecompetitionofficials,a
team’sroutineisinterruptedbecauseoffailureof
thecompetitionequipment,facilities,orother
factorsattributabletothecompetitionratherthan
theteam,theteamaffectedshouldSTOPthe
routine.
2. Theteamwillperformtheroutineagaininits
entirety,butwillbeevaluatedONLYfromthepoint
wheretheinterruptionoccurred.Thedegreeand
effectoftheinterruptionwillbedeterminedbythe
competitionofficials.
3. Ifateamneedstore-performaroutinebutfailsto
dotheroutineinitsentirety,thenthisteamwill
receiveascorebasedonthelowerlevel
performance.
B.FAULTOFTEAM
1. Intheeventateam’sroutineisinterruptedbecause
offailureoftheteam’sownequipment,theteam
musteithercontinuetheroutineorwithdrawfrom
thecompetition.
2. Thecompetitionofficialswilldetermineiftheteam
willbeallowedtoperformatalatertime.If
decidedbyofficials,theteamwillperformthe
routineagaininitsentirety,butwillbeevaluated
ONLYfromthepointwheretheinterruption
occurred.
3. Ifateamneedstore-performaroutinebutfailsto
dotheroutineinitsentirety,thenthisteamwill
receiveascorebasedonthelowerlevel
performance.
C.INJURY
1. Theonlypersonsthatmaystoparoutineforinjury
are:a)competitionofficials,b)theadvisor/coach
fromtheteamperformingorc)aninjured
individual.
III.HOWTOHANDLEPROCEDURALQUESTIONS
A. RULES&PROCEDURES—Anyquestions
concerningtherulesorproceduresofthe
competitionwillbehandledexclusivelybythe
director/coachoftheteamandwillbedirectedto
theCompetitionDirector.Suchquestionsshouldbe
madepriortotheteam’scompetitionperformance.
B. PERFORMANCE—Anyquestionsconcerningthe
team’sperformanceshouldbemadetothe
CompetitionDirectorimmediatelyaftertheteam’s
performanceand/orfollowingtheoutcomeofthe
competition.
IV.SPORTSMANSHIP
Allparticipantsagreetoconductthemselvesina
mannerdisplayinggoodsportsmanshipthroughoutthe
competitionwithpositivepresentationuponentryand
exitfromtheperformanceareaaswellasthroughout
theroutine.Theadvisorandcoachofeachteamis

VIII.SPOTTERPOLICY
2. Thecompetitionofficialswilldetermineiftheteam
willbeallowedtoperformatalatertime.Ifthe
competitionofficialsallowaroutinetobe
performedatalatertime,thespotintheschedule
wherethere-performanceistotakeplaceisatthe
solediscretionofcompetitionofficials.Theteam
mayperformtheroutineagaininitsentirety,but
willbeevaluatedONLYfromthepointwherethe
interruptionoccurred.
3. Ifateamneedstore-performaroutinebutfailsto
dotheroutineinitsentirety,thenthisteamwill
receiveascorebasedonthelowerlevel
performance.
4. Theinjuredparticipantthatwishestoperformmay
notreturntothecompetitionfloorunless:
a. Thecompetitionofficialsreceiveclearance
from,first,themedicalpersonnelattendingto
thatparticipant,theparent(ifpresent)AND
THENtheheadcoach/advisorofthecompeting
team.
b. Ifthemedicalpersonneldonotclearthe
participant,theparticipantcanonlyreturnto
thecompetitionifaparentorlegalguardianin
attendancesignsareturntoparticipation
waiver.
c. Intheeventofasuspectedconcussion,the
participantcannotreturntoperformwithout
clearancefromaphysician(MD/DO)thathas
trainingrelatedtoheadinjuries,andwaiting24
hours,evenwithawaiverfromaparentorlegal
guardian.
d. Inadditiontotheheadinjurypolicy,we
encourageyoutobefamiliarwiththespecific
lawwherethecompetitionisbeingheld.
Inanefforttopromoteahigherlevelofsafetyfor
competingathletes,theICUWorldCheerleading
Championshipswillprovidespottersforallrehearsal
andcompetitionfloors.Toprovidethesafest
competitiveenvironment,teamsshouldnotattempt
skillsbeyondtheirabilitylevel.
IX.MUSIC
1. Forthe2017ICUWorldChampionshipsandJunior
WorldChampionships,allNationalTeamswillhave
thechoiceoffollowingtheUSACheer
(www.usacheer.net)orICU(www.cheerunion.org)
MusicCopyrightsEducationalInitiative.
2. IhavereadandunderstandtheUSACheerorICU
MusicCopyrightsEducationalInitiativeandall
soundrecordingsusedinourteam’smusicshall
onlybeusedwiththewrittenlicensefromthe
owner(s)ofthesoundrecordings.
3. Teamsmustbeabletoprovideproofoflicensing
duringtheregistrationattheChampionships.
4. Ifateamdoesnothaveproofofmusiclicensing
available,theywillbeallowedtoperformtoan
optionalapprovedtrackofmusicoratrackwith
counts(providedbytheICU)orcancountverbally.
5. Ifateamcannotprovideproofoflicensing,anddo
notperformtoanoptionalapprovedtrackofmusic
ortocounts,theteamwillbedisqualifiedfromthe
competition.
6. Ifthereareconcernsregardingacertainteam’suse
ofmusic,aChallengeFormmustbecompleted
immediatelyfollowingtheteam’sperformance.
7. Achallengecanonlybemadebytheofficialcoach
oranofficialNationalFederationrepresentativeof
ateamcompetingattheeventatwherethe
challengeisbeingmade.
8. ChallengeProcess:
a. Allmusicchallengesmustbesubmittedin
writingtotheInternationalCheerUnionhead
official.
b. Therewillbea$100USDfeetorequestamusic
challengeandmustbeintheformofUSA
currency.
c. Feescollectedwillbereturnedifthechallenge
iscorrect.
d. Iftheteamchallengedcanprovide
documentationduringtheeventorcanbe
verified,thefeeswillbedonatedtoalocal
children’scharity,St.JudeChildren’sResearch
Hospital.
e. Iftheteamchallengedcanprovide
documentationthatrequiresfurtherreview,a
VI.INTERPRETATIONSAND/ORRULINGS
AnyinterpretationofanyaspectoftheseRulesand
Regulationsoranydecisioninvolvinganyotheraspect
ofthecompetitionwillberenderedbytheRules
Committee.TheRulesCommitteewillrendera
judgmentinanefforttoensurethatthecompetition
proceedsinamannerconsistentwiththegeneralspirit
andgoalsofthecompetition.TheRulesCommitteewill
consistoftheCompetitionDirector,HeadJudge,anda
designatedcompetitionofficial.
VII.DISQUALIFICATION
Anyteamthatdoesnotadheretothetermsand
proceduresofthese“RulesandRegulations”willbe
subjecttodisqualificationfromthecompetition,will
automaticallyforfeitanyrighttoanyprizesorawards
presentedbythecompetition,andmayalsoforfeitthe
opportunitytoparticipatethefollowingyear.

9. Eachteamisrequiredtohavearesponsibleadult
remainatthemusicstationthatknowstheroutine
andmusic.Thisrepresentativeisresponsiblefor
startthemusicandstoppingthemusicincaseof
technicalmalfunctionorinjury.Pleasemakesure
thatalldevicesarefullycharged,volumeturnedup
andplacedinairplanemode.IfusingCDs,please
makesuretheCDisunscratchedsothereisnoskip
whileplaying.
10. TeamsmaynotuseDisneythemesnormaythey
havecostumesthatresembleaDisneycharacter.
However,Disneymusicisacceptableiffollowing
themusicguidelines.

4. Athletesandcoachesmaynotbeunderthe
influenceofalcohol,narcotics,performance-
enhancingsubstancesorover-the-counter
medicationsthatwouldhindertheabilityto
superviseorexecutearoutinesafely,while
participatinginapracticeorperformance.
5. Athletesmustalwayspracticeandperformonan
appropriatesurface.Technicalskills(stunts,
pyramids,tossesortumbling)maynotbe
performedonconcrete,asphalt,wetoruneven
surfacesor,surfaceswithobstructions.
6. Soft-soledshoesmustbewornwhilecompeting.No
danceshoes/boots,and/orgymnasticsslippers(or
similar)allowed.Shoesmusthaveasolidsole.
7. Jewelryofanykind,includingbutnotlimitedto,
ear,nose,tongue,bellybuttonandfacialrings,clear
plasticjewelry,bracelets,necklacesandpinson
uniformsisnotallowed.Jewelrymustberemoved
andmaynotbetapedover.Exception:medicalID
tags/bracelets.Clarification:Rhinestonesare
allowedwhenadheredtotheuniformandnot
allowedifadheredtotheskin.
8. Anyheightincreasingapparatususedtopropelan
athleteisnotallowed.Exception:springfloor.
9. Flags,banners,signs,poms,megaphonesandpieces
ofclotharetheonlypropsallowed.Propswith
polesorsimilarsupportapparatusmaynotbeused
inconjunctionwithanykindofstuntortumbling.

theCompetitionDirector.Suchquestionsshouldbe
madepriortotheteam’scompetitionperformance.

CompetitionDirectorimmediatelyaftertheteam’s
performanceand/orfollowingtheoutcomeofthe

V.INTERRUPTIONOFPERFORMANCE
A. UNFORSEENCIRCUMSTANCES
1. If,intheopinionofthecompetitionofficials,a
team’sroutineisinterruptedbecauseoffailureof
thecompetitionequipment,facilities,orother
factorsattributabletothecompetitionratherthan
theteam,theteamaffectedshouldSTOPthe
routine.
2. Theteamwillperformtheroutineagaininits
entirety,butwillbeevaluatedONLYfromthepoint
wheretheinterruptionoccurred.Thedegreeand
effectoftheinterruptionwillbedeterminedbythe
competitionofficials.
3. Ifateamneedstore-performaroutinebutfailsto
dotheroutineinitsentirety,thenthisteamwill
receiveascorebasedonthelowerlevel
performance.
B.FAULTOFTEAM
1. Intheeventateam’sroutineisinterruptedbecause
offailureoftheteam’sownequipment,theteam
musteithercontinuetheroutineorwithdrawfrom
thecompetition.
2. Thecompetitionofficialswilldetermineiftheteam
willbeallowedtoperformatalatertime.If
decidedbyofficials,theteamwillperformthe
routineagaininitsentirety,butwillbeevaluated
ONLYfromthepointwheretheinterruption
occurred.

3. Ifateamneedstore-performaroutinebutfailsto
dotheroutineinitsentirety,thenthisteamwill
receiveascorebasedonthelowerlevel

C.INJURY
1. Theonlypersonsthatmaystoparoutineforinjury
are:a)competitionofficials,b)theadvisor/coach
fromtheteamperformingorc)aninjured
individual.
2. Thecompetitionofficialswilldetermineiftheteam
willbeallowedtoperformatalatertime.Ifthe
competitionofficialsallowaroutinetobe
performedatalatertime,thespotintheschedule
wherethere-performanceistotakeplaceisatthe
solediscretionofcompetitionofficials.Theteam
mayperformtheroutineagaininitsentirety,but
willbeevaluatedONLYfromthepointwherethe
interruptionoccurred.
3. Ifateamneedstore-performaroutinebutfailsto
dotheroutineinitsentirety,thenthisteamwill
receiveascorebasedonthelowerlevel
performance.
4. Theinjuredparticipantthatwishestoperformmay
notreturntothecompetitionfloorunless:
a. Thecompetitionofficialsreceiveclearance
from,first,themedicalpersonnelattendingto
thatparticipant,theparent(ifpresent)AND
THENtheheadcoach/advisorofthecompeting
team.
b. Ifthemedicalpersonneldonotclearthe
participant,theparticipantcanonlyreturnto
thecompetitionifaparentorlegalguardianin
attendancesignsareturntoparticipation
waiver.
c. Intheeventofasuspectedconcussion,the
participantcannotreturntoperformwithout
clearancefromaphysician(MD/DO)thathas
trainingrelatedtoheadinjuries,andwaiting24
hours,evenwithawaiverfromaparentorlegal
guardian.
d. Inadditiontotheheadinjurypolicy,we
encourageyoutobefamiliarwiththespecific
lawwherethecompetitionisbeingheld.
VI.INTERPRETATIONSAND/ORRULINGS
AnyinterpretationofanyaspectoftheseRulesand
Regulationsoranydecisioninvolvinganyotheraspect
ofthecompetitionwillberenderedbytheRules
Committee.TheRulesCommitteewillrendera
judgmentinanefforttoensurethatthecompetition
proceedsinamannerconsistentwiththegeneralspirit
andgoalsofthecompetition.TheRulesCommitteewill
consistoftheCompetitionDirector,HeadJudge,anda
designatedcompetitionofficial.
VII.DISQUALIFICATION
Anyteamthatdoesnotadheretothetermsand
proceduresofthese“RulesandRegulations”willbe
subjecttodisqualificationfromthecompetition,will
automaticallyforfeitanyrighttoanyprizesorawards
presentedbythecompetition,andmayalso
forfeittheopportunitytoparticipatethefollowingyear.

2. IhavereadandunderstandtheUSACheerorICU
MusicCopyrightsEducationalInitiativeandall
soundrecordingsusedinourteam’smusicshall
onlybeusedwiththewrittenlicensefromthe
owner(s)ofthesoundrecordings.
3. Teamsmustbeabletoprovideproofoflicensing
duringtheregistrationattheChampionships.
4. Ifateamdoesnothaveproofofmusiclicensing
available,theywillbeallowedtoperformtoan
optionalapprovedtrackofmusicoratrackwith
counts(providedbytheICU)orcancountverbally.
5. Ifateamcannotprovideproofoflicensing,anddo
notperformtoanoptionalapprovedtrackofmusic
ortocounts,theteamwillbedisqualifiedfromthe
competition.
6. Ifthereareconcernsregardingacertainteam’suse
ofmusic,aChallengeFormmustbecompleted
immediatelyfollowingtheteam’sperformance.

8. ChallengeProcess:
a. Allmusicchallengesmustbesubmittedin
writingtotheInternationalCheerUnionhead

XV.FINALITYOFDECISIONS
Byparticipatinginthischampionship,eachteamagrees
thatdecisionsbythejudgeswillbefinalandwillnotbe
subjectforreview.Eachteamacknowledgesthe
necessityforthejudgestomakepromptandfair
decisionsinthiscompetitionandeachteamtherefore
expresslywaivesanylegal,equitable,administrativeor
proceduralreviewofsuchdecisions.
XVI.SEMI-FINALSANDFINALS
ICUreservestherighttodetermineifasemi-finalor
finalroundwillbenecessary.Alldivisionswithone
roundofcompetitionpriortothefinalswillbe
classifiedasasemi-final.Aminimumof50%ofthe
teamsineachsemi-finalroundwilladvancetothe
finals.Intheeventofatieforthefinalteamadvancing,
bothteamsthataretiedwilladvance.Tournament
officialswillhavethefullauthoritytomakethefinal
determinationofthenumberofteamsselectedto
advancetothenextround.
