YOUR CHECK-IN LIST TO UTS:HOUSING GETTING TO UTS & UTS HOUSING From the airport: - Take a train from the airport to Central Station (Exit 7, Railway Square, S Concourse) and walk to the UTS Housing Office (about 8min walk). - Catch a taxi straight to either the UTS Housing Office (via the loading dock), Gumal Ngurang (if you are checking on one of the official dates) or the UTS Tower building (if arriving out of office hours). If taking the train, we strongly recommend you get an OPAL card which is a travel card that you can use on trains, buses, ferries and trams by topping it up with credit (see Opal card section). If catching a taxi, this will usually cost you between A$25 and A$50 depending on the time you take it and where you travel to. OPAL CARD SYSTEM IN SYDNEY • Where can you get one? You can get one from any newsagency, Seven Elevens, Woolworths and also at the airport booking office, WHS Express or Relay. • How does it work? Place credit on it either at the newsagency or by going online (www.opal.com.au). Tap on and tap off when using transport and credit will be retrieved accordingly. • Discounts Discounts for Opal cards are only available to domestic students. To activate your discount, please go to the UTS website and type in “Opal Card” For International students: you can get a discount on MultiPass tickets 2 &3. Arriving by car: At Yura Mudang: there is a loading dock where you will be able to park for up to 15min to unload your suitcases and other items. Access to it will be from Harris Street right after the ABC. At Gumal Ngurang: you will need to first come to Gumal’s reception to request access before heading over to Mountain st (temporary parking area) where you will be able to unload your items. WHERE CAN I CHECK-IN? On official check-in dates - 28th January and 16th February - you can check-in at the UTS Housing reception and Gumal Ngurang reception. • Although it is not mandatory, we encourage all residents to arrive on their scheduled contract start date (28th January or 16th February - please check your licence agreement) as there are many activities that new residents can participate in and activities during the UTS Housing Welcome Weeks that you can sign up for on the day. • If checking-in at Gumal Ngurang, please note that the reception desk there will ONLY be open on 28 January and 16 February from 9am to 2pm. • Please note that office hours will be extended during this peak period to provide better service for students checking in (see extended office opening hours). • If you are unable to move in on your contract start date please let us know your intended move in date via email ([email protected]). Please note that if you decide to check-in after your contract start date, you still need to pay for your rent from your original contract date. • Getting to your residence after checking-in: there will be shuttle buses running regularly to and from the check in areas to the different student residences. These buses will be able to transport you, your luggage and your family members if required to your residence building. • You are not required to bring your luggage to the check in desk. Once you have your room keys, you can move in at any time. GUMAL NGURANG RECEPTION The Quadrant Building, 161 Broadway St, Broadway NSW 2007 [Reception open for check-ins ONLY on 28 Jan and 16 Feb] YURA MUDANG (UTS:HOUSING OFFICE) Building 6, Level 2, 702-730 Harris St, Ultimo NSW 2007 UTS:HOUSING CHECKING-IN OUTSIDE OF OFFICIAL DATES You can come to the UTS Housing Office to check-in. The regular UTS Housing Service office hours are 8am-6pm Monday to Friday (but the office will have extended office hours during check-in periods). • PAYMENT METHODS: • The form for making the payment is called “Residential Fee Payment Option”. • The Occupier must complete and sign this form and deliver the completed form to UTS: Housing Service before the Commencement Date. • UTS housing provides three ways of paying your rent: If you are “checking in” outside of office hours: - I’m going to live at Yura Mudang Head to the UTS Security team located at the UTS Housing Service office in Building 6, Level 2, 702-730 Harris St, Ultimo. Option 1: One lump sum payment for the entire semester to be made by 11 February 2016 (if checking-in on 28/01/2016) or by 1 March 2016 (if checking-in on 16/02/2016). If you choose this option you will receive a discount equivalent to 1 week’s rent. - I’m going to live at Gumal Ngurang, Bulga Ngurra or Geegal Head over to the UTS Security team located at the UTS Tower Building 1, 15 Broadway Ultimo if you are residing in Gumal Ngurang, Bulga Ngurra and Geegal. Option 2: UTS Security will be able to provide you with key access to your room; but we will need you to come to the UTS Housing Service office on the next working day so that you can complete the official check in process. Direct Debit (International Full Fee and Domestic Students Only) each fortnight from a nominated Australian Bank account as per the 2016 direct debit schedule. To setup an Australian bank account please refer to the below section. • Option 3: If you arrive after hours and have trouble at any time, please call the UTS Security office on + 61 (0)2 9514 1192. • 3 easy instalments (Study Abroad and Exchange Only) paid by credit card, bank transfer or cash. The payments will be 3 equal instalments of your total licence fee for the semester.
