You will need to add their income together for line 1 of the EZ form Their INT-1099 is attached for the taxable interest income They have no unemployment and never lived in Alaska Marisa and John cannot be claimed by any other person(s) as a dependent. Follow the directions on Line 5 to determine the exemption/standard deduction amount. Remember to add both of their federal withholdings for line 7 (box 2 of the W-2) They do not have an earned income credit, and were never in combat. Use the tax table to determine their tax for line 10 If they are getting a refund, complete through line 11. If they need to pay more in taxes, skip line 11 and complete line 12. Part 2: Complete a Utah State Tax form for Marisa and John. • • • • • • • • • They are married filing jointly with 2 exemptions (make sure box 2d says 2) They have no additions to their income They have no additional deductions and are not an exempt taxpayer. For line 12, enter $11,900 They have no itemized deductions for line 14. This is not an amended return, they do not want to make any contributions, and have no other credits or deductions to claim. Remember for line 33, add both of their state withholdings (box 17 of their W-2) If they owe money, complete through line 39. If they are getting a refund, complete line 43. Place a 0 on line 44.
