RISKview is the world’s most popular tool for viewing, creating and assessing probabilities graphically. RISKview allows you to preview, edit, and draw probability distribution functions. Available as a standalone product, fully integrated with every copy of @RISK for Excel, BestFit, or bundled with the DecisionTools® Suite, RISKview is one of the most versatile companion programs on the market! As part of @RISK, RISKview appears as a “pop-up” distribution viewer window that quickly assigns probabilities to spreadsheet cells. RISKview can also be used to determine probability distributions for models built with RISKOptimizer™ or @RISK for Microsoft Project! RISKview is easily launched from these applications with a new icon appearing alongside the Excel or Project toolbars. RISKview “pops-up” over your spreadsheet models! RISKview truly shines as a companion to the latest releases of @RISK for Excel, RISKOptimizer, or @RISK for Project. Or use RISKview by itself when working with probability distributions for other purposes! No matter how you use it, RISKview is the most comprehensive probability viewer around. Visualize Your Distributions RISKview is an interactive distribution viewer where you can instantly view distribution graphs for any of the 37 @RISK distributions. Just choose the distribution you are interested from the drop-down list of distribution functions. Not sure what a particular distribution looks like? Just select it from the menu and instantly see a graph of the distribution. Or, click a button to bring up the Distribution Palette – a gallery of thumbnail sketches representing all available distribution types. Just click the thumbnail of the distribution you wish to use to see the full graph! RISKview’s Distribution Palette makes choosing distributions a snap! Graphs in RISKview are high-resolution and presentationquality. Furthermore, all graphs may be fully customized by type (density area, cumulative ascending, cumulative descending, etc.), scaling, colors, and more. Plus, graphs may be exported to Excel for further modification in native Excel chart format. All graphs include sliding delimiters as well for quick, accurate comparisons of probabilities. An Interactive Distribution Viewer Then, type in desired parameters or adjust them with spin buttons, and watch the graph update as you change parameters! Want to quickly see a graph of a Lognormal distribution with mean = 100 and standard deviation = 10? Just type in the parameters in the fields provided. Need to see the same distribution with a standard deviation of 20 or 30? Just type in 20, 30, or use the spin buttons and watch the graph reflect the change. With this versatile product you Palisade Corporation, 31 Decker Road, Newfield, NY 14867 USA TEL: 800-432-7475 -or- 607-277-8000, FAX: 607-277-8001 [email protected], www.palisade.com RISKview p. 2 of 4 and your colleagues can view and review the probabilities used in your @RISK, RISKOptimizer or @RISK for Project models. Once you have created the distribution you like, click a button and the currently displayed distribution will be entered into the active Excel spreadsheet cell or current Project field! RISKview makes it easy to pick the right distribution to describe your uncertain values. Alternate Parameters for Greater Flexibility There may be instances where you wish to use a particular distribution function to describe an uncertain factor, but you don’t have enough information to determine the parameters for that distribution. For example, from experience you may know that a normal distribution best describes the net pay of an oil reservoir, but you don’t have enough information about the field to know what the mean and standard deviation of the Alternate Parameters give you more flexibility when defining your distribution may be. RISKview allows you to enter uncertainty. parameters as percentile values, giving you even greater modeling flexibility. For example, you can use survey or historical data to estimate the 10th and 90th percentiles of a normal distribution instead of guessing at the mean and standard deviation. To do this, simply select your distribution, then click the new “Alt” button to bring up the alternate parameters dialog. Enter your percentile values, and RISKview automatically creates a new distribution function for you. You can even use a combination of standard and percentile parameters! Distributions available in RISKview include: Beta Beta General Beta-Subjective Binomial Chi-Square Cumulative Discrete Discrete Uniform Error Function Erlang Exponential Extreme Value/Gumbel Gamma General Geometric Histogram Hypergeometric IntUniform Inverse Gaussian/Wald Logistic Log-Logistic Lognormal Lognormal2 Negative Binomial Normal Pareto Pareto 2 Pearson V Pearson VI PERT Poisson Rayleigh Student's t Triangular Triangular General Uniform Weibull All Statistics Included With RISKview, you get all statistics for every distribution function in a handy spreadsheet-style report to the right of the graph. Minimum, maximum, mean, mode, standard deviations, skewness, kurtosis and all other statistics you would expect are there, and are updated automatically when the graph changes. RISKview gives you complete information to ensure the most accurate probability distribution to fit your situation. All distribution statistics appear to the right of the graph in RISKview. What if you just don't know what function to use, but you can draw a curve which reflects the range and distribution of possible values? With RISKview's Distribution Artist, you get a toolkit for creating your own distributions! Give RISKview a minimum and maximum value, then use the mouse to sketch your curve in between. Stretch the curve up or down at any point when you want to change its shape. A smoothing function helps those shaky hands. Done with your newly created masterpiece? RISKview changes your drawn curve to an @RISK General function which can be entered into the current spreadsheet cell or Project field. RISKview can take your hand-drawn curve one step further. Using technology from Palisade’s powerful BestFit software, RISKview can calculate the standard distribution type and parameter values that “fit” your curve the best! All you have to do is click the Fit Curve button in the RISKview toolbar and use the resulting distribution function in your model! Intuitive Interface RISKview’s Microsoft Office-style interface makes it easy to get up and running quickly. Dialog boxes, menus, toolbars, tables and graphs are all designed to be familiar and easy to understand. Most commands are accessible via toolbar buttons or right-click pop-up menus. You’ll find yourself doing most of your work using only the mouse! Compare Distributions Using Overlays Compare distributions using overlays. Do you want to see how the range and probabilities of two distribution functions differ? Ever wanted to compare graphs of two different distributions on top of each other? With RISKview 4.5, you can! Using a simple right-click command, it's easy to overlay two distribution graphs on top of each other, and you can compare probabilities using sliding delimiters. Overlay graphs automatically take on parameters within a similar range as the original graph, making comparisons easy. All statistics for both distributions are displayed in the linked statistical report to the right of the graph for easy reference. Want to remove the overlay, or switch back and forth between the two graphs? Simply right click to perform those functions as well! Pop-up over an Excel cell and graphically assign probability distributions to any value in the formula. As you change parameters, truncate your distribution or name it, watch as RISKview builds your distribution for you. You get the best of both worlds – a complete intuitive graphic assignment of distributions combined with the fully flexible distribution function format of @RISK! Plus, RISKview links directly to distribution functions that are used in your @RISK models, so any time you change your distribution, you can see an updated graph with RISKview.
