Transgender Sports
The Palm Center is commissioning a study to evaluate how athletic associations revised policies and
best practices to accommodate transgender athletes, and to determine whether teams’ inclusion of
transgender athletes has impacted cohesion or performance.
Scope: The research should employ social science methodology. The final product should be a study of
publishable quality by a peer-reviewed journal.

Proposals should explain the research design and methodology, timetable, institutional affiliation (if
any), references and author CV.
Deadline: June 15, 2013
Selection Criteria: Proposals will be evaluated based on the scope of the proposed research, quality of
research design, the potential quality of the data, the clarity of the author’s writing, and the author’s
background and publication history. Interested authors are encouraged to review this Palm Center

Compensation: The Palm Center will pay between $10,000 and $15,000 for the completed study,
depending on the author’s experience and scope of the proposal.
