The ages of the Horse/Pony must be displayed (Bridle Number or armband) NO Galloping or Jumping of veterans is allowed Marks should not be deducted for old injuries/scarring that has occurred previously, providing that the horse has recovered completely. Marks should also be relevant to any old injury that has occurred in the past. Markings Walk - Total Max Marks = 20 Trot - Total Max Marks = 20 Canter - Total Max Marks = 20 Where competitors are In-Hand both walk and trot will be added together then this score will be added together then this score will be multiplied by 1.5 Example Walk = 15 Trot= 15 30x1.5 = Total score of 45 Please look for freedom of movement, suppleness and regularity within the pace (A 27 year old will be stiffer in general than a 21 year old) Condition and Overall Appearance - Total Max Marks = 20 Please consider the state of the coat and condition in relation to the age of the horse/pony (Good marks should be awarded to older horses/ponies that are in very good condition) Turnout - Total Max Marks = 10 A good clean standard of grooming, cleanness of tack and turnout of Rider/Handler is required Manners and Personality - Total Max Marks = 10 Please observe the alertness and zest for life of the horse/pony (Does it want to be at a show?) Please remember that these Veteran Classes are not Riding Horse/Show Hunter classes. Judging should be based on the animals condition in relation to its age. Rules and General Notes Documented Age Required—Either registration papers or vet certificate, passport or anything that identifies age of the horse, especially in the 15 to 25 age groups. Plaiting Optional = shown as natural as possible with attention paid to health and wellbeing. Presentation of handlers and tack does count towards overall score. Lead Rein exhibits to be shown in main class Individual Shows required within class—walk trot canter both leads ( no canter required for 30 plus class ) Judging will be based upon the following points: Horses and ponies, shown in-hand or ridden, must be 15 years old and over and in a sound, healthy condition. Marking system: Out of 50 - Way of going, Manners and Movement out of 50 - Presentation, Condition, Type and suppleness for age In the event of a tie the “Way of going” mark will take precedence. The judge’s decision is final. Mobile phones are not allowed in the show ring. No horse/pony is expected to gallop in any veteran class. Any galloping will be severely penalised. Handlers Must be suitably attired. Absolutely NO thongs permitted onsite or in the rings 1. 2. 3. 4. Body jewellery and facial piercings are not permitted. Handlers of horse/pony at our show must wear a suitable hat or cap. It is mandatory for competitors up to and including the age of 16 to wear correctly secured riding hats to the current approved standard. RIDDEN—RIDER Jacket—plain colour or tweed. 1. Jodhpurs—beige or canary yellow. 2. 3. Shirt with tie or stock. Gloves to be worn. Footwear—Jodhpur boots (juniors), long riding boots (seniors). 4. Body jewellery and facial piercings are not permitted. 5. Anyone riding a horse/pony must wear a hard hat. 6. Spurs/spur bands are not permitted in any classes. HORSES/PONIES 1. 2. 3. Tack must be in good condition and correctly fitted. NOTE: Lead rein exhibits must be shown in a snaffle bridle. The lead rein must be attached to the noseband at all times during the class. Riders of lead reins are not permitted to carry whips. No item of tack can be removed or exchanged whilst a class is in progress without the judges’ permission. 4. 5. No leg boots are allowed. BITS - Double, Pelham, Snaffle bits are ac cepted. Gags and Bubble bits are NOT accepted. Please clean up after your horse & yourself as these grounds are grazed by the resident retired horses. No ponies/horses or riding permitted on the grounds unless entered. Current safety approved helmets must be worn at all times while mounted. No dogs permitted on the grounds. No Thongs onsite—You will be asked to wear appropriate footwear or leave the grounds.
