Monmouth County ASAP Meeting Minutes September 21, 2012 8:30 – 10:30 am High Focus Center (Open) Introductions~ Meeting opened by Lori Todd and Amy Rock, co­chairs for Monmouth County ASAP 8:30 am. Welcomed members to meeting, thanked High Focus Center for hosting and for breakfast. Please ALL check meeting dates and locations to confirm. 1) High Focus Centers~ 1) Barbara Rexer~ the new adolescent clinical coordinator for SA program 2) Burlington Labs~ using Burlington Labs in Vermont; have a 72 hour alcohol screen which helps a lot; can test for K2, THC cut off at 20, slower turn around time; will test for anything requested as long as given ample time 2) SAC Positions and Placements~ 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) 9) Allentown~ Dara Jarosz; SAC/School Counselor part­time Asbury Park~ Jory Artis; 2 nd year as elementary SAC and MS Anti­Bullying Specialist Collier H.S.~ Lara Pickerton, formerly CCIS; reach out to about ASAP Keansburg K­6~ Sierra Thomas, 1 st year Keyport H.S.~ Jen Eckert, welcome back to Monmouth County, K­12~ 4 days at HS, 1 day at Central School Wall Twp~ Alysa Fornarotto­Regenye; mental health, social work, treatment back round~ worked with State of NJ for years Kelly Brown~ now at Lacey Twp. In Ocean County Christine Grossman~ now at Montgomery Twp. Millie Solicito~ retired from Manasquan; Nancy Sanders covering elementary SAC 3) State Level Updates~ 1) Treasurer and Secretary Positions~ available at state level; must be organized and savvy when working with money 2) Membership~ need to make sure everyone is up­to­date with ASAP membership; Lori and Amy will inform; email Doreen Consulmagno on ASAP NJ website 3) 2012­2013 Conference~ Confirmed at Ocean Place for February 6 th ­8 th ; working on speaker confirmations right now; sub­committees working on tasks~ will be in touch for more meeting dates. Dr. Raj and Steven Benvinisti are keynote speakers; trying to get Noel Love who created information on SAC program forms and CORE Team; John Hulick~ executive director of GCADA will speak. Pam Felder in charge of give­a­ways sub­committee; CONTACT for Pam~ (732) 671­2212 x8774 for work; (732) 685­5943 for cell; [email protected] for email 4) Discussion~ 1) Conference 2013~ keep in touch with other sub committee members; sign up for volunteering~ we will need help 2) Week of Respect~ some ideas at schools are art projects with poster contests and winners displayed under sign saying RESPECT made of recycled materials, band playing/singing RESPECT or choir sign over loud speaker, ribbon cutting ceremony in main hallway of school for kick off, Steered Straight, PSA’s, etc. Email each other for ideas or send ideas to Lori and Amy if want emailed out to group. 3) Member Directory~ New members/switched schools, Amy will email you information needed for member directory and request a picture. 5) Providers~ 1) Barbara Sherman~ High Focus Centers; same contact information as last year; will soon be starting program for young adult opiate addicts (18­30); will mandate family participation 2) Maggie Giovanni~ Princeton House; same contact information as last year but new brochure; new counselor for all adolescent referral calls~ Michelle McAdams 3) Jane Licata~ YMCA, Matawan; same contact information as last year for her and Steve Lazar; currently starting the early intervention group for 13­18 yrs. At risk, newly abusing; 6:30­7:30 $35 per hour (includes drug screen); access to psychiatrist if needed; if disclosure of continuous use, will increase services to IOP, also has a play therapy program for kids 4) Mariel from Centered Students~ not a treatment provider but program for in schools; “mindful based” 8 week yoga program for students in schools K­12­ $600 for 8 week session; works primarily with students diagnosed with ADD/ADHD.
