This four county area is recognized as one of the most rapidly growing regions in Illinois and the Midwest. The Village is located within a short distance of the City of Aurora and the Village of Naperville, the two largest municipalities in the metropolitan area outside the City of Chicago. The Village of Montgomery is immediately north and adjacent to the Village of Oswego. The county seat of Kendall County, the City of Yorkville, is five miles southwest of the Village. Kendall County was recognized in a June 16, 2010 article by CNNMoney.com as the fastest growing county in the United States. Oswego, the largest community in the county, has seen a large percentage of that growth. In a 2009 article, CNNMoney.com recognized Kendall County as the number three county in the United States for job growth. The growth in population has brought growth in retailers, big box stores, and restaurants to Oswego. There is currently over 2.5 million square feet of occupied national retail space along the Route 34 corridor in Oswego with opportunities for additional growth along this corridor and additional corridors within the community. Oswego is a growing community, the largest municipality in Kendall County, continuing to attract new residents to enjoy the abundance of activities and services readily available. Residents enjoy the small country charm of a small rural town while having the opportunity to experience big city life when desired. Oswego is a great place to be a resident, visit, garner employment or attend community recreational events.
