Course Description: This course provides students with the information, resources, and
tools necessary to plan a successful transition from DMACC to a four-year college or
university. Special emphasis will be placed on developing an individual transfer plan.
Topics include: selecting the best set of courses for transfer, deciding when to transfer,
meeting major prerequisites, using articulation agreements & transfer plans, researching
four-year colleges & universities, selecting a transfer college, getting connected with transfer
advisors at the four-year colleges, identifying a general timeline for each step in the transfer
process, keeping track of important deadlines, and preparing for the transition to the fouryear college.
