The Assignment: Write 20 journal entries in a doublesided journal on the following literary elements. You are required to write at least 10 journal entries for Of Mice and Men and at least 10 journal entries for Anthem. For each book: ● 3 of the 10 entries need to be on the literary element, Conflict. This is the verbal or physical disagreement or fight in the story. What events show the specific conflict in the story? Identify the type of conflict (human vs. human, human vs. self, human vs. society). ● 3 of the 10 entries need to be on the literary element, Character. Who are the people in the story? Identify personality traits and give examples of these traits. ● 3 of the 10 entries need to be on the literary element, Setting. Where does this story take place? Does the setting change? How does this setting move the story along? How do the characters survive? ● 1 of the 10 entries can be on setting, conflict or character. Please refer to the entries below for an example of an appropriate entry on each of the literary elements discussed. Also, look at the rubric following the entries before you begin.
