Special Membership Meetings
On Thursday November 17th at 6:30p.m. we will hold a special Membership meeting to
approve several issues affecting the lodge. This will be a series of four short meetings
to include a review of each issue, discussion, and a vote. Here is a brief synopsis of the
agenda.




Meeting 1: Raising Dues. Moose International is raising the dues to all
members by $2 each year for the next three years. We plan to raise the dues by
$5 now to cover the next several years of increases.
Meeting 2: Adjusting Lodge Hours. Our official posted hours do not match our
actual operating hours. We also want to move our bi-monthly Thursday night
membership meeting from 8pm to 7pm.
Meeting 3: Approve funds to fix our Air Conditioner units. We have already
replaced the units, but the amount we spent to do so requires a vote of approval
from the membership.
Meeting 4: Building a Pavilion. We would like to build an outdoor pavilion with
a roof out back to give us a place to hold outdoor functions.
Please plan to addend this meeting and vote on these issued.
Annual Christmas Event to benefit the Battered Women’s Shelter
On December 3rd, the Lodge will hold an event that is of significance. It is our annual
Christmas party to raise money and gifts to give to the women and children staying at
the local shelter. This event will be held upstairs. Food and drinks are available.
Admission is one toy and a roll of wrapping paper. Even if you can’t attend, please
consider donating a toy and paper ahead of time. You can bring your donation to the
Social Quarters. Please help the lodge support this valuable cause, and help make
someone’s Christmas a little brighter.
Veterans Day Dinner Special
Veterans Day is Friday, November 11th. To honor our members who served in our
Military, the lodge will give them a free New York strip steak dinner on this day. If you
don’t want steak, you can choose a menu item priced below the strip dinner. This is for
active LOOM 1380/WOTM 1392 members.
Ugly Sweater Party
That’s right, its time again for our Ugly Sweater Party! It will be held on November 19 th
from 7p.m-1a.m in the Social Quarters. No admission is required. DJ Doc Rossi will be
spinning the tunes for us this evening. There will be contests and prizes. Please break
out that old ugly-a$$ sweater your Aunt Bessie gave you 20 years ago and party with us
this evening!
Breakfast with Santa
On Saturday December 10th, we will be holding our annual Breakfast with Santa event
at the lodge for our children. To sign up for this event, you will need to put your child’s
full name on the list posted in the Social Quarters. Each child will receive an ageappropriate gift, so make sure you indicate your child’s age. Children will receive a free
breakfast; each adult will cost $5 per person. Each child must be accompanied by an
adult. This event starts at 9a.m., and Santa is scheduled to arrive at 9:30a.m. This is
always a fun event for the children, so please plan to participate!
Thanksgiving at the Lodge
For our members that are not traveling to far-away exotic locations for Thanksgiving,
our lodge will be open and hosting a Thanksgiving dinner! Dinner is planned for 3p.m
that day. The lodge will provide the meat, including fried turkey, and mashed potatoes.
We are asking anyone who wants to participate to bring a side dish of some sort. The
Redskins and Cowboys play at 4:30p.m. this day, so come and cheer on the Mighty
Redskins to victory! Also on Thanksgiving….
Let the Lodge Fry your Turkey!
This is not some sort of “dirty talk.” The lodge will fry turkeys for the lodge’s
Thanksgiving dinner, and since we will have the fryers and oil already bubbling we are
available to fry your turkey as well! You can get on the schedule by putting your name
on the list by the kitchen, and bringing your turkey to us that day. Your turkey must be
less than 15 pounds, be thawed, and dried. Please bring a suitable pan for carrying the
turkey. If you want flavor injected turkey please prep your turkey at home, or bring your
seasoning and injector with you. If you have never had fried turkey before, it has been
said that after your first few bites of fried turkey you will want to call your mother and yell
at her for baking the damn turkey for all those years! It’s so much better.
Sunday Tailgate Parties
If you have not heard yet, we have been having a good time in the Social Quarters on
Sunday afternoons. We are throwing what we call a tailgate party so we can have food
during the football games. Some of our members have volunteered to take turns
bringing in pot luck dishes and sharing them with all of us. We have had some good
food so far, and rumor has it that one Sunday soon you may see some chicken feet!
Beer Tab Challenge
Don’t forget that the Dale City Moose lodge has challenged us to collect more aluminum
can tabs that they do. If you open a can of soda or a beer, please pull off the tab and
put it in one of the collection buckets we have placed around the lodge. You can do this
at home as well, as several of our members already are! The tabs are donated to the
Ronald McDonald House, which recycles them and uses the money to support families
with children fighting cancer. So, if doing it to beat Dale City isn’t a good enough reason
to pull them, then do it for the children.
Official Website for Updated Information
There is a good website out there where you will find up to date information. Go to
lodge1380.moosepages.org. Please note that there is no “www” in the address. One of
the best things you will find here is an up-to-date calendar of events for the lodge. There
is also space for flyers, photos, special news, and even a map to show our lodge’s
location. Larry Lamay is the editor of this website, so if you have a flyer to post or other
ideas for the website, please contact him.
Kids’ Corner
The Kids Activity Night will be Friday, November 18th at 6p.m. and feature how to win a
street fight. That’s not the truth. The kids will be learning how to play pool properly!
They will be shown how to hold the stick, line up shots, and rules of the game. Bring
your child to the lodge that night and soon they will be hustling all their friends!
New Year’s Eve Party
Plan on coming to the lodge on New Year’s Eve and ring in the New Year with us! We
will have a live band, food, drinks, and lots of fun people. Tickets are $15 per person, or
$25 a couple. Watch for flyers in the lodge and the next newsletter for more information.
Low Ball Tournament
Who wants to win some money? November 12th the ladies will host a Low-Ball
tournament. The entry fee is $100, and includes food and drinks. You can split the fee
with a friend and take turns playing. There will be cash prizes. To sign up please email
Jackie Pitkin at [email protected]

Regular LOOM 1380 and WOTM 1392 Meetings
Please plan on attending one of our membership meetings and have a voice in how we
conduct our business in the lodge. The women’s meeting is the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of
each month starting at 7:30pm. The men’s meeting is the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each
month starting at 8pm. If you are a member of the Moose Legion, you can attend the
Manassas Moose Legion Committee meeting on the 4th Sunday at 12:30pm, and then
stay for the race or the game!
Manassas Moose Legion Waives the Applicaion Fee
If you were considering joining the Moose Legion, now is a good time to do so. Typically
the dues are $15 plus a $10 application fee. From now until the end of December the
Moose Legion Committee is paying the application fee. If you want to find a way to
volunteer to help make things better around the lodge, joining the Moose Legion is a
good place to start.
Letter from the Governor
It is that time of year again! Voting season is upon us. Remember everyone is entitled
to their beliefs, so be polite to one another if the discussion comes up on the social
quarters. The Halloween party was a lot of fun and the costumes were spot on...our
Trustee Larry LaMay in my opinion had the most original. Very funny...with an extra
dash of creepy. Those of you that went all out we thank you all! they kitchen has been
doing a great job the food has been top notch, if you have not tried it lately get in there.
Cathy's burritos are the bomb!
The lodge will be frying turkeys for membership that would like them fried. you supply
the turkey and we will fry it. The sign-up sheet in outside the kitchen. That being said,
the potluck Thanksgiving dinner sign-up sheet is outside the kitchen as well. We
recently had three Brothers conferred into the Moose Leagon, Kerry Kearny, Tim Hoff,
and Orlando Matsumoto. Congratulate them when you see them. Way to step up to the
next level of fraternalism.
Fraternally yours,
John F. d'Alelio
