My Family’s Trip to Israel
By Avery Fox, with assistance from TME graduate, Hailey Fox
This summer our family went to Israel. We had a family reunion.
When we met our Israeli cousins we were glad to see them for
the first time. After a while, we learned all of their names. They
were so nice and understood most of the words that we said in
English. We knew some of what they were saying with their
hebrew accents. They tried to speak English, but sometimes just
couldn't make out the words.
With our cousins, we went to many places. For example, we went
to the beach in the city of Naharia. The water was very cold in
some places, but warm in others. With our American cousins we
went to The City of David, which is an underground excavation
in Jerusalem. There, we went the tunnels called the Wet and Dry
Tunnels. The name basically speaks for itself. I went in the wet
tunnel. The water was the coldest you could ever imagine. After
the tunnel, my feet were wet and freezing cold.
The most important place that we went to was The Western Wall
also known as the Kotel. We went on Friday night, Shabbat, at
night time. There was a wall between the men and women. The
men were on the left side of the separation, and the women
were on the right side. My family had to separate into men and
women to go up to the wall. I went up to the wall and touched
it. It felt rough in some places, but smooth in others. Since it was
my first time there, said a prayer to say thanks. After I was done, I
walked backwards all the way the back of the area.

MEET THE STAFF
Mrs. Blake, Second grade teacher
By Ari Herold
This month I decided to interview
Mrs. Blake. She is a very nice second
grade teacher. I know because she
is my teacher! My first question was
what inspired her to be a teacher and she said her mom because
she was a second grade teacher, too for 34 years! The next
question I asked her was what is the hardest part about being a
teacher and she answered making sure that everyone is learning
at the right pace and making sure everyone’s needs are met. Her
favorite part about being a teacher is that she gets to work with
wonderful kids and great teachers every day. If she weren’t a
teacher, Mrs. Blake said that she would be a lawyer who
advocates for children because she always wanted to work with
children. Her favorite subject is reading. When she is not working
or reading she spends time with her family. She likes to eat cookies
and cream ice cream, just like me! She had her family like to play
outside and go out to eat especially at Bubs in Carmel. It was fun
interviewing my teacher!!
