'_ •The-_Board.of.'Trustees of the Village of East Aurora has received your letter of January 23, 1968, requesting sewer and water services for the proposed high school facility located on Center Street near Sweet Road in the Town of Aurora beginning September i, 1970. East Aurora, New York February 19, 1968 J 0i'_ As you know, the Board has authorized its Consulting Engineers, Loziers Engineers, Inc., to prepare plans for expansion of our present water system. These plans will include reinforcing the present distribut$on system, increa@ing the filtration capacity and adding storage capacity in the vicinity of Hubbard Road and Center Street in the:Tgwn of Aurora. Construction of the proposed improvements will make water available in.the quantities requested for both normal use and fire flow at the point of storage. May we suggest that your engineers analyze the possible advantages to you of storage at the school for part of your fire needs ..... . , , . I] Capacity of thelexisting'sewer facilities is sufficien%to meet the needs of the proposed new h_gh school with a connection being made at Center Street and South Street. .: : . -- . Forrest Cain Mayor A letter was received from Mr, E. M. H@rt, 82 Church Street, regarding a permit to kill with an air-powered pe$1it gun, pigeons on his own premises. As the provisions of Chapter i0, Section i0 of the General Ordinances do not allow such procedure to eliminate pigeons, Trustee Robert B. Kelly moved, seconded by Trustee DonaSd W..Seebohm and carried that Village,Attorney Walter W. Howitt communicate with Mr, Hart-in an effort to clarify his prob!em of the pigeon control. Further discussion on the matter indicated that means other than killing with some type of gun are available. Trustee David P. Elmer_moved-,seconded-by TrusteeJoseph..L. Shed and carried that the Village,Engineer be.authorized to:contact-.anagency purporting to be able to control pigeons without the use of firearms,and that Mr..James R. O'Connor tender a report of this procedure at the March 4 Board meeting; also that Mr. Hart ..beinformed.of this action.., ;, , "" . ". t Mayor Cain presented a report from the Police Department on the use and results.of new _radar equipment recently installed. After.the discussion, the report was ordered to be filed. . . • • • . .... . The possible formation of a Village policy regarding the construction of a proper bridge over Tannery Brook where the brook is crossed by Brooklea Drive was.discussed at.length. An_apparently, less expensive type of bridge than the one originally proposedby, the consulting engineers was discussed. Engineer James R. O'Connor will confer with the engineers on this and submit a report at the March 4 Board meeting. Village Attorney Walter W. Howitt explained the final step necessary to comply with a Court Settlement regarding a $1,200.00 assessment for the_demolition by the Village in 1965 of an unsafe building at 365 South Street. The Board considered the petition of.the Clerk-Treasurer sworn to on February 19, 1968, requesting that the 1965-66 tax roll of the Villa_e of East Aurora be corrected to remove therefrom a charge of $1,200.00 for the removal of an alleged unsafe building from premises at 365 South Street in 1964. After a discussion it was moved by Trustee David P. Elmer, seconded by Trustee Raymond A. Smith and unanimously carried that the following resolution be adopted: RESOLUTION WHEREAS this Board has reviewed the petition of the Village Clerk-Treasurer requesting the correction of tax item No.203-328 on the 1965-66 Tax Roll_.ofthis Village; and WHEREAS, this Board has heretofore by resolution authorized . that steps be taken to_'accomplishthe said correction requested by said petition; and e WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of this Village and proper for the said correction to be made, BE IT RESOLVED that the Tax Roll of the Village of East Aurora for the fiscal year 1965-66 be corrected to show a correct amount of $111.55 as the tax levied in re Tax Item No. 203-328 thereon as to property_at'365 South_Street, and .that the Certificateof_Tax_Sale 10_East Aurora, New York _ February 19, 1968. held by the Village of EastAurora in're said Tax Item:'No.203-328 for fiscal year 1965-66 be corrected to show a correct amom_tlof $111.55 as the.tax levied,and unpaid, plus interest andpenalties on $111.55 as provided by statute. The matter of Suggested amendments to the Village Fire Code in order to bring said code into conformity with the Erie County Code was considered. After very lengthy consideration, the matter will be explored further in the March 4 Board meeting. A request was received from the Volunteer Fire Department for approval to obtain professional architectural advise regarding the proposed expansion and alteration of the Fire Hall on Oakwood Avenue as proposed in the Capital Budget Program 1968-69. Trustee Robert B. Kelly moved, seconded by Trustee Donald W. Seebohm and carried that Architect John Schwartz be asked by Mayor Cain if he will conduct a feasible study in cooperation with the Fire Department Co_ittee at a fee not to exceed $250.00. O'Conno_ reported that sewer and water connections to the proposed apartment development on Mill Road will cost between $2,000.00 and $3,000.00 depending upon the.final approved location of the buildings to be served. Trustee James W. Ford reported that apparent junk cars and wrecks are being stored illegally,on propertiesadjacent to.the Triangle-Collision Shop on Hamburg Street. Kelly and carried, that the minutes of the meeting of February 5, 1968, the recessed meeting of February 12, 1968 and the regular meeting of February 19, 1968, be approved as submitted. Mr. Nell F. Ellson, 210 Sycamore Street, appeared on behalf of the East Aurora VolunteerrFire Department to ask if additional information or exhibits are necessary to obtain approval of the contract for the proposed replacement of Emergency Truck No. 7. b ' After a brief discussion, Mayor Cain excusedEngineer O'Connor to woi_with Mr. Ellson as to the needed information before theplans can be approved. The matter of the proposed amendments to'the Village FireCode discussion. came on for Trustee Joseph L. Shed complimented Village Attorney Walter W. Howitt on the careful and complete preparation of the suggested amendments and gave his opinion that the provisions of the "open burning".as_required by existing Erie County Code
