Print Form RITE OF BAPTISM The Sacrament of Baptism is often called the “Door of the Church”, because it is the first of the seven sacraments that a Catholic may receive during his/her lifetime and as such the reception of the other sacraments depend upon it. Through baptism the person becomes a member of the community of believers, the Church. Baptism is the way the Church celebrates and manifests God’s loving embrace of God’s beloved creation: the child being baptized. The Sacrament of Baptism celebrates a family's and a community's experience of God’s infinite love. ELIGIBILITY Infants may be baptized in Mary, Huesman or Leavey chapel if they are the children of the following: • Alumni of LMU or Loyola Law School. • Undergraduate or graduate students currently enrolled at LMU and Loyola Law School. • Faculty or staff members of LMU and Loyola Law School.
