TODAY’S READINGS
First Reading — Peter is an eyewitness: The
Lord is risen (Acts 10:34a, 37-43).
Psalm — This is the day the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad (Psalm 118).
(1) Second Reading — All who are baptized,
set your hearts in heaven (Colossians 3:1-4)
or
(2) Second Reading — Christ our Passover
is sacri-ficed; therefore let us celebrate (1
Corinthians 5:6b-8).
Gospel — Three witnesses, Mary, Peter, and John; each
responds to the empty tomb (John 20:1-9) or
Luke 24:1-12 (or, at an afternoon or evening Mass, Luke 24:13-35).

DRAWN INTO THE STORY
“We are witnesses!” The scripture readings for Easter
Sunday concentrate on details reported by eyewitnesses.
Listen carefully and you will be drawn into the stories
yourself. Peter reports the good works Jesus did, his death
on the cross, and his resurrection. The passage from John’s
Gospel has us running to the empty tomb with Peter and
John and peering inside to see the cloths used to cover
Jesus’ body. Psalm 118 sums up our response: “It is
wonderful in our eyes!”
What resurrection details do we see in our lives today?
How have we died to our old lives and been raised up
again with Jesus? Let us pay attention to the new life
around us. It is wonderful in our eyes.

REFLEXION Y LECTURAS DE HOY
Primera lectura — Pedro es un testigo:
el Señor ha resucitado (Hechos 10:34a,
37-43).
Aleluya (Salmo 118 [117]).
(1) Segunda lectura — Todos los
bautizados, eleven su corazón al cielo
(Colosenses 3:1-4) o
(2) Segunda lectura — Cristo nuestra
Pascua fue
sacrificado; por tanto celebremos (1
Corintios 5:6b-8).

THE BIG FEAST
During the first three or four centuries of
Christianity, if you asked a Christian to
name the holidays of the Church, the
answer would have been a questioning
look, because there was a single feast: The
Resurrection of the Lord. Every Sunday
was a feast celebrating the great
feast. Although now our calendar has many
beautiful and holy festivities, we must
continually remember that all these other
feasts exist because Christ passed from
death to life. Today’s Psalm proclaims this
message: “This is the day the Lord has
made!” It is not one of the many days, but
the day of days, the one which gives the other its origin,
its purpose, its meaning and destiny.
Listen carefully to Peter's sermon in Acts
remembering the Passion, the words of the apostle Peter
and the story of Mary Magdalene, John and Peter of the
finding of the empty tomb and heard the wonderful works
that God has done for us through Jesus Christ. Rejoice
and be glad!
EASTER:
To that man, to that woman,
to you, and me,
God says:
“Get out of the tomb,
Get up, live, stand, walk, victorious,
as a child of God, like my Son. "
Happy
Blessed
2016!

Easter
respuesta
habría
sido
una
mirada
interrogatoria, porque había una sola fiesta: La
Resurrección del Señor. Cada domingo era
una fiesta que celebraba la gran fiesta. Aunque
ahora nuestro calendario tiene muchas
festividades hermosas y santas, debemos
PASCUA:
A ese hombre, a esa mujer,
a ti, a mí, Dios nos dice:
“Sal del sepulcro, levántate, vive,
camina, en pie, vencedor,
como un hijo de Dios,
como mi Hijo”.
¡FELICES PASCUAS DE
RESURRECCION 2016!
