Spring Break
their adult life. When
children come late, it may
give them the message
that school is not so important. The earlier a
child is trained in the habit of punctuality, the
more he or she can establish positive habits and
experience growth in
other areas, such as academics, responsibility,
behavior, etc. Please let
us know if there is something we can do to help in
any way. Thank you so
much for your understanding and support.

Give “Tender Shoots” Solid Roots by Twila Brown, Principal
Leaf of Life
Train up a child in
the way that he
should go, and when
he is old, he shall
not depart from it.
—Proverbs 22:6
If you know of someone who would like to give their “tender shoots” solid roots,
send them to plant their roots at Learning Tree. We are praying for the Lord to
continue to fill our classrooms. Thank you for your prayers and for sharing the
positive stories about the high-quality Christian education here at Learning Tree.
As we enjoy Valentines weekend, let’s remember how much love our Savior has
for each one of us. We are so important to Him that He even numbers the hairs
on our head, and He has each of us engraved on the palms of His hands. We have
the best Valentine ever—for God so loved that He gave His only begotten Son!

WinterFest Success!
A big THANK YOU to Home and School and everyone who participated in our first annual WinterFest!
The food was more than delicious and the games were so fun that no one wanted to leave the party! We
met lots of new families, many of whom are interested in learning more about our school. Thank you for
bringing your families and friends. Many happy memories were made and some were even captured on
film!

CNN Studio Tour
Students in grades 5-8 keep up with current events by watching CNN Student News on a daily basis. This
week they traveled to the CNN Center to tour the studio. They began their tour by embarking on the
world’s tallest escalator. They concluded their tour by meeting the anchor of CNN Student News, Carl
Azuz (pictured below with students). The students enjoyed taking pictures of Carl, getting his autograph,
and hearing some of his famous puns. Mr. Dorn’s daughter, Christina, brought her students from Shoal
Creek Adventist School and joined up with our students for the tour. It was fun touring the studio with
fellow students from one of our sister schools. — by Mr. Randy Dorn

Sleeping Bag Day
On Thursday Mrs. Dorn kept up with her yearly tradition of Sleeping Bag Day for her 3rd and 4th graders
right in their classroom. The children brought sleeping bags, stuffed animals and enjoyed hot chocolate
and donuts as they read some books right after worship.
Later they played some board games and after lunch each child decorated a shoebox with valentine stickers. These valentine boxes were used on Friday to keep their valentines. Later in the afternoon , the children ate popcorn as they watched a movie. Sleeping Bag Day was enjoyed by all!
Basketball Skills Camp
Students from grades 2nd to 7th grade were treated by Mr. Dorn and Mr. Cleghorn to some skill training on Thursday after school. Pictured is Mr. Dorn teaching Diego how to use the lines on the court to
his favor.
Lightening JV Basketball
Our girl’s and boy’s JV teams traveled to Oakwood Christian Academy on Monday. This was the first
time our girl’s played as an all-girl team. Even though they lost by two baskets you could see them coming together as a girls’ varsity team of the future. Our boy’s JV team made some timely baskets pulling
away in the second half to score a convincing win! These games marked the culmination of the JV basketball season. Please clean your child’s jersey and return it to the school as soon as possible.
