20/01/16 - PTA meeting
It’s lovely to see so many smiling faces around the school and
one or two new faces as well. I’d like to welcome Mrs Dursley
and Mrs Stacey to the school. Mrs Dursley will be working in
Year 4 and Mrs Stacey will be joining our reception class team.
We also have many new children who have started school this
term and we hope they settle quickly into our St. Minver family.
Thank goodness we seem to have proper winter weather at last!
No snow yet, but if we do have a blanket of the white stuff during the next month or so, it may impact how we function as a
school. We will always try to open the school if it snows, yet we
must put safety first. The majority of our staff travel many
miles to work here at St. Minver and if travel is affected by the
weather their journeys may not be possible. Historically on snow
days we have always opened the school, but occasionally there
has been a later start time in order to make the school site safe,
and to allow staff longer to reach St. Minver. If conditions are
too bad, we may have to close the school. The school website will
be updated daily, and local radio will also make regular announcements about school closures. Let’s hope we have just a sprinkling
so that we can dust off the sledges and throw the
odd snowball, but not enough to
impact school life. I feel I may
burst into song…’Do you want to
build a snowman?!’

Once again may I please request that all children
are
safely ’belted up’ in your cars before you pull
away from the car parks. Mr. Howard informs
me
that numerous parents have been seen driving from the school site
with their children not wearing seat belts. Needless to say it is the
law that all passengers are securely seat belted in cars before travelling and we would hate for any of our children to be
hurt in an accident because they were not following
this basic requirement!
One word…….NITS!!!
Please take the weekend to check your children’s
hair! Nits spread like wildfire so for the sake of all
our children, please tackle any little blighters if
you find some!
All afterschool clubs have started
this week and despite the inclement
weather great fun has been had by
all. The rowers took advantage of
being indoors on the gallery for
their first rowing session. They
may cross the Atlantic before
Easter!
Another quick reminder that all cars must to
travel in and around the school site slowly! Particular care in the lower car park must be taken and
remember to keep a keen eye on your children once they have
been handed over from the class teacher.
Just a quick reminder that before
Christmas, new contact information forms were issued. Thank you to those who have completed
a form for their child/children If you haven’t completed your forms yet, please do so as soon as
possible so we can update our records and get the new text system up and running. If you need a new form, please
come into the office to collect one. Thank you.
