SCIENCE
Q.1 Why do we see water droplets on the outer surface of a glass containing ice cold water in it?
Q.2 Define density and give its SI unit.
Q.3 Why do the gases exerts more pressure on the walls of container than the solids?
Q.4 Design an experiment to show that ammonium chloride undergoes sublimation.
Q.5Why does the temperature remain constant during the melting of ice even though heat is supplied
continuously?
Q.6 Explain how the temperature. Surface area, humidity and wind speed affect the rate of evaporation?
Q.7 Design an activity to show the particulate nature of matter.
Q.8 Why do doctors advice to put strips of wet cloth on the fore head of a person having high fever?
Q.9 Give two ways in which melting points and boiling points can be useful.
Q.10 Can a rubber band change its shape on stretching? Is it a solid?
Q.11 Describe an activity to determine the boiling point of water and melting pint of ice.
Q.12 Identify the dispersed phase and dispersing medium in the following colloids- fog, cheese, coloured gem
stones.
Q.13 Smoke and fog both are aerosols. In what way they are different?
Q.14 Give the differences between elements, compounds and mixtures.
Q.15 Give the differences between true solution and suspension.
Write practical in your laboratory record file.
List of practical(i) General introduction of the laboratory.- Draw and write (two lines each) general apparatus used in
laboratory such as test tube, glass slide, beaker, stain, cover slip, conical flask, tripod stand, funnel,
burner, watch glass, Petri dish.

2. To determine the density of solid (denser than water) by using a spring balance and a measuring cylinder.
3. To establish the relation between the loss in weight of a solid when fully immersed in
a. tap water
b. strongly salty water, with the weight of water displaced by it by taking at least two different solids.
To determine the speed of a pulse propagated through a stretched string/slinky.
(1)To prepare:
a) A true solution of common salt, sugar and alum
b) A suspension of soil, chalk powder and fine sand in water
c) A colloidal solution of starch in water and egg albumin/milk in water and distinguish between these on the
basis of
