SHALALA
President Donna E. Shalala stepped down
A
fter 14 years of distinguished service at the University
of Miami, President Donna E. Shalala decided to step
down at the end of the 2014-2015 university year.
Throughout her tenure Shalala advanced the university
into the top-tier of American universities, making it one of the
nation’s leading research universities.
“Collectively we have accomplished what we set out to
do—secure the University of Miami’s place as the next great
American research university,” Shalala stated in her resignation

leader of the university, she became a friend to everybody on
campus, actively talking with students and taking pictures with
them. Under her leadership the university transformed from
Suntan U to a world-renowned university with one of the most
beautiful campuses in the country. By Zach Silberberg

fundraising, the Momentum2:

for the University of Miami
drew to a close. The goal for
Momentum2 was to raise
$1.6 billion by 2016, which

continue to raise more.
“With our dynamic
leadership in place and a wellcrafted plan for our future, we
are poised to make even more
extraordinary contributions in
the years to come,” President
Donna E. Shalala said.
As Momentum2 came to
a close along with Shalala’s

over $3 billion with the two
momentum campaigns, a feat
no other university has ever
done. By Zach Silberberg
