to write recounts. We will also be using
our topic, Egypt, to stimulate creative
writing.

Who were the Ancient Egyptians
and what are they famous for?
We will study the Ancient Egyptian
period as part of our history curriculum.
We will look at who the Egyptians were,
where they came from and how they
travelled. We will also study why the
Egyptians made pyramids and why they
mummified bodies. A trip to the
Classroom in the Woods will also

Why do humans needs a skeleton
and how do we keep our bodies
healthy?
Pupils will learn about the function of
the human skeleton, as well as the
position of different bones in the human
body. Pupils will also be taught what
the body needs to be kept healthy and
why a balanced diet is important.
European countries and atlas
skills
Pupils will be using atlases to locate
the countries of Europe and identify
their capital cities. The internet and
other sources will be used for pupils
to research a country of Europe in
depth and produce a report about
their chosen country. The report will
need to contain information about
the physical and man made features
found in the location.
Festivals
We will study festivals from various religions and
make comparisons between them. We will also look
at why we celebrate both religious and cultural
events and what happens at these festivals. Pupils
will be asked about festivals/celebrations they have
attended and what happened at the event.
Light and Shadows
We will look at how our eyes allow
us to see things as well as
identifying different sources of light.
As well as this, pupils will carry out
an investigation into the lengths of
shadows at different times of the
day. Linking in with our Egypt topic,
pupils will be taught about the gods
worshipped by Ancient Egyptians.
