Make sure you bring proof of identification for yourself, your child and documentation that proves your relationship. For example –– your child’s passport or New Zealand birth certificate –– your passport or NZ drivers’ licence. You’ll need copies of suitable identification for each new signatory/Authoriser. Please refer to Westpac’s list of acceptable verification documents available at www.westpac.co.nz/AML. If you are the child’s parent, the child’s birth certificate (with your name on it) will prove your relationship. However, if you are the child’s legal guardian, you will need to bring documented proof of this. Also don’t forget to get an IRD number for your child and let us know what it is, because this will help maximise the amount of interest your child can earn. If we don’t have an IRD number we are required to deduct tax at the higher default tax rate. 10 Junior Accounts Opening ‘Agent Transacts For’ (ATF) Accounts for Personal Customers Westpac use only Authority no.
