Kinokuniya to open four stores in spring 2017
Kinokuniya Company Ltd (Chairman and President Masashi Takai) will open three new
stores in Tokyo, Okayama and Fukuoka this spring. Kumamoto Hamasen Store, which has
been closed due to the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake, will also be reopened.

Although this store has been closed for a long period of time due to the Kumamoto
earthquake which occurred on 14 April 2016, the restoration and renewal is now
complete and it will reopen soon. With the aim to create an expansive space that is
relaxing and where it is easy to find items for all generations, this shop will return as
‘brand new Kumamoto Hamasen Store’ that can be appreciated by local customers.
The expiry date of any Kinokuniya Points acquired at the Kumamoto Hamasen store has
been extended for customers who could not visit this store while it was temporarily
closed down.
Kinokuniya hope to contribute to the continuous development of the publishing culture
in Japan by expanding the store network across the country and serving the local
customers as a base for cultural activities in each neighbourhood.
