Department Summary
The Talent Acquisition department at Consumers Energy is a centralized team responsible for the essential function of
identifying, attracting, recruiting, and hiring talented individuals into all roles and organizations within Consumers Energy.
As such, the team is a high-performing, dedicated team of individuals who work across external outreach avenues while
maintaining a focus on internal customer service. The team is responsible for more than just finding great talent; they are
central to the ongoing staffing strategy for a specific internal client segment.
Job Description/Responsibilities
The Talent Acquisition Consultant / Recruiter is responsible for more than just finding great talent to fill one position.
Rather, Consumers Energy understands the importance of creating and maintaining a comprehensive outreach plan that
will develop and secure a pipeline of talent for years to come. This outreach plan may include university programs for
identifying talent into the Intern Program at Consumers Energy. The Talent Acquisition Consultant / Recruiter will be
responsible for the full life cycle of recruiting, including writing job descriptions, sourcing, screening resumes, interviewing
candidates, negotiating salaries, extending job offers, implementing onboarding strategies and keeping accurate records
of all candidates and new hires.
The Talent Acquisition Consultant / Recruiter will understand and drive definition and clarity around the metrics pertaining
to talent acquisition, including time to interview, time to fill, time to onboard, rate of rejection, talent risk segments, and
more. He/she will be responsible for the ongoing compliance of a number of internal and external regulations, including
those governed by the OFCCP. The ability to adapt to new processes and compliance requirements is essential.
Further, the ideal candidate will get more in-depth into human resources activities, including partnering with department
first-line supervisors and senior leaders, creating both strategic and tactical staffing plans, identifying and providing
customer service to internal clients, and providing an exceptional experience to all external applicants and employees who
move through the talent acquisition process. This position will primarily support a high volume / energy operations talent
segment which spans multiple organizations within Consumers Energy.
Requirements/Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or Business with HR focus (as validated on transcripts)
• Strong customer service experience
• Strong ability to work with technology, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), applicant tracking systems,
and internet searching
• Understand the role of a talent acquisition professional, with an ability to implement and utilize advanced sourcing
strategies, including social media
• A passion for staffing with a proven track record of excel in establishing credibility, rapport, and trust with both internal
hiring managers and qualified and diverse candidates
• A tireless work ethic and the interpersonal and marketing skills to represent the company and attract the necessary
talent to execute the company's business strategy
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of associates in the
organization

The work location for this position is Jackson, MI.
Position will be filled at the appropriate salary grade based upon the skills, knowledge, and experience of the selected
candidate
Essential Functions
Obtain and/or administer pre-employment and promotional examinations. May assist in conducting validation studies.
Under supervision, develop supplemental questionnaires and coordinate the development of oral examination materials.
Advise departments, employees and the public on state and federal employment practices, procedures and requirements;
assist with proper interpretation of employment policies and guidelines. Under general supervision, may provide technical
assistance in developing new classifications and class descriptions. Develop recruitment announcements, screen
applicants, develop registers of applicants for current or future use, and certify applicants to user departments for
consideration. Conduct or participate in salary surveys, assist in the conducting of job analyses and recommending
appropriate classifications and salary levels for existing and new classifications. Coordinate studies with employees,
departmental supervisors and others as necessary. Assist in developing equal opportunity recruitment programs to assist
departments in achieving realistic employment goals. Coordinate with EEO Officer to develop effective recruitment
programs. Prepares written reports as required, may prepare and administer a variety of employee and client surveys.
May make presentations on a variety of topics to employees, management staff, job applicants and the general public.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with department heads, supervisors, employees and the general
public. Provides advice and counsel to clients and employees related to human resource policies, practices and
procedures including matters related to the collective bargaining agreement, benefits, employee development, safety, and
organizational issues.
Hours and Travel
Must possess a valid driver’s license. Maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance during regularly scheduled
work hours at assigned worksite. Meet travel requirements of the position. Work a flexible schedule, which may include
evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime.
