The closure is necessary for the protection of motorists and workers during placement of bridge beams on the structure that carries Ridge Road (State Route 563) over the Turnpike at milepost A37.4 in Salford Township, Montgomery County. At 12:01 a.m. on July 20, northbound traffic will be diverted off at the Lansdale Interchange. Southbound I-476 will remain open to motorists traveling south to the east/west Turnpike mainline or to the Mid-County Interchange continuing southbound on the Blue Route (I-476) to I-76/I95. Prior to the closure, the night of July 19, motorists should be prepared for the northbound right lane to be closed at 8 p.m. and the southbound left lane to be closed at 10 p.m. between milepost A39-A35. By 6 a.m. the detour will be lifted and the Northeastern Extension reopened to traffic. The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission cautions motorists that a 13-mile stretch of the Northeastern Extension (I-476) will be closed northbound only for six hours July 20 between the Lansdale (Exit #31) and Quakertown (Exit #44) interchanges. The closure is necessary for the protection of motorists and workers during placement of concrete beams on the structure that carries Ridge Road (State Route 563) over the Turnpike at milepost A37.4 in Salford Township, Montgomery County. The speed limit will be posted at 40 mph until the single-lane patterns are lifted on Sunday. Construction-zone speed limits are enforceable and fines will be doubled. Pennsylvania State Police and Turnpike personnel will be positioned at the Lansdale Interchanges to assist motorists. Travelers can tune to radio 1640 AM for detour information and traffic conditions or call the Turnpike Roadway Information line at 866.976.8747. DETOURS Traveling northbound on I-476 — Exit at Lansdale Interchange (Exit #31): take State Route 63 east (Sumneytown Pike) to Route 309 north to State Route 663 west (John Fries Hwy.) to reenter the Turnpike at the Quakertown Interchange (Exit #44) to continue northbound on I-476.
