The Executive of the Schomberg Skating Club welcomes you to an exciting 2015/2016 skating season. The Schomberg
Skating Club is a non-profit organization, run under the auspices of Skate Canada. The Club has supported and promoted
the involvement and training of skaters from Schomberg and surrounding area for over 35 years. We offer a variety of
programs, including lessons for beginner skaters of all ages, to training for advanced competitive skaters. Our coaches are
highly qualified and experienced professionals.

Learn to Skate Programs
CanSkate Program
This program is offered to children age 3 and up and teaches the fundamentals of proper skating technique for aspiring
hockey players, figure skaters, speed skaters or recreational skaters. There are 45 minutes of instruction and games with a
professional coach or a program assistant in a group setting. Skaters will receive report cards at the end of each season.

Equipment for CanSkate participants:
 A CCM certified skating helmet and gloves must be worn by each skater, splash/snow pants are recommended.
 An adult responsible for each child must be present at the arena during skating sessions.
 If it is found that a child is not ready for an organized program, the program fee (minus a $50 administration fee) is
refundable within the first three weeks.
 Parents are NOT allowed on the ice.
Junior StarSkate Program
CanSkate skaters can move up to the Junior program when they have passed their CanSkate level 5 or 6 and/or are
recommended for advancement by a coach. In their first year, they will continue to receive 30 minutes of group lessons in
stroking, dance and freeskate from a professional coach. The remaining time will be for private lessons and practice.

Hockey Development Program
The focus of this 45 minute program is to build on skaters’ balance, strength, and agility to improve their game play. The
participants must have achieved at least a level 2 in the CanSkate program to participate in the Hockey Development
program. As a safety precaution, parents are NOT allowed on the ice. However, an adult responsible for each child must be
present at the arena during skating sessions.

Guest Skaters
Extra ice time can be purchased during junior ice time. All guest skaters must be Skate Canada members. Fees for the ice
must be paid to a member of the executive before going on the ice. A maximum of 22 skaters are allowed on the ice.
