Stone Mosaic Art Project for Darley Park Walled Garden Amanda Wray

Stone Mosaic Art Project for Darley Park Walled Garden
I am writing to introduce a new and exciting project about to start in
Darley Park Walled Garden.
I have been commissioned by DerwentWISE and FoDOS (Friends of
Darley Open Spaces) to work with Schools and Community groups in
this area to make a mosaic for the walled garden amongst the
hydrangeas. The mosaic will celebrate the natural, cultural and
personal heritage of the park.
I would like you and other members of the community who already
enjoy and know the area to contribute your ideas
 What does the park mean to you?
 What special memories do you have of the park?
 Do you know any interesting historical facts about the area?
(I have heard rumour of a banana tree!)
 What do you feel is special about the park?
I want to gather this information and your ideas to inform the final
design. So please come along and get involved - just come for a chat,
stay and write down your thoughts, bring something along to do with
the park that is meaningful to you or do some sketching if you like.
The first event is on Tuesday 27th October, 10.30am-3pm near the
café in Darley Park and a second event on Monday 2nd November,
3pm-7pm at St Matthew’s Church, Darley Abbey.
Later in the project there will be a chance for you to get involved in the
mosaic making and I shall be working with some local schools too.
Thank you very much for your time and I do hope you enjoy being
part of this project.
Best wishes,
Amanda Wray
