NEWSLETTER
Hello Ladies
A big thank you goes out to Karen and Ben Bunnell for hosting
our plant sale. They truly went above and beyond to make it one of our
best yet!! Once again, I am in awe of all our members who contributed
to make this event a success. Although the final figures are not in, we
raised approximately $2,000 for our Club. The wide variety of healthy
plants and the garden art were all fabulous, even the weather
cooperated.  Karen and her committee, along with all volunteers, did
a great job.
Thanks in advance to Gail J. for once again hosting our club
picnic June 12th 155 Case Rd.
@11 a.m. Remember to bring a chair
and your favorite potluck dish to share.
The gentleman who sharpens tools will be at the picnic again
this year, so don’t forget to bring your dull clippers; he prefers cash but
will accept checks.
If you haven’t paid your dues, please bring your check ($22.00)
to the picnic. Remember if you want to be listed in the 2013 yearbook
,June is the deadline.
Garden Tour and Tea is on July 7th. The pre-tour for
workers and garden owners is Friday July 6th. Our last fundraiser before
the summer break is just around the corner. Dellann B. and committee
will have more information and tour tickets available at the picnic.
Next week is the State Convention. Thank you to all who will
be volunteering and to everyone for buying raffle tickets throughout the
year; our district appreciates the donations that is helping to make this a
wonderful state event.
If you have any thoughts/ suggestions, please let me know.
HAVE A GREAT SUMMER

the volunteers, as well as
the people who came to
buy, we hosted a very
successful money-raising
event.
Gerti’s Gardening Gab
We had a Fun May day working in the park!!
May is the month HRP containers get planted with seasonal color. It’s a J-O-B to renew and revive
the tired soil before planting colorful summer blooming plants, but Joyce and Claire got them all
done. Laura fed and cared for the roses again. Arlene, Pat, Karen, Nora, Inez and new member
Barbara Croteau weeded, swept and cleaned up. As usual, Sally K was there to pick up garbage.
Inez is back on slug patrol. We are continuing to select areas of the garden to renew or replace
tired or sick plants. Denise and Carol H. worked to remove OLD Thrift from bed #2 where we hope
to plant a show of spring bulbs. Joyce and Gloria are still digging out the Leptinella
squalida, ‘Platt's Black’ Black Brass Buttons, from under the big Maple tree in bed #6 up front.
One of the only plants we have found to grow there, it travels far and wide choking out everything
in its path! It’s perfect for difficult areas with definite boundaries, otherwise don’t plant it!
All total 13 members contributed 29 hours of help making our garden lovely!
Next work party:
June 19, 10 AM Hal Ramaley Park, Lunch & Coffee, too
