UPCOMING PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES

Registration for the following programs and activities is now underway!
Mario Medici, seasoned traveler and photographer, will present Ellis Island –
Island of Hope, Island of Tears on Tuesday, February 2nd at 1:30 p.m. Medici will
cover the island’s earliest days up to the present and include both the
architectural aspect and the human aspect of what was once the “Gateway to
America” for millions of immigrants. A Tuesday Talks for Seniors presentation,
the program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Residents of all
communities are invited to attend.
Tech Talk is back! Claire Houghton-Kiel is available Thursday evenings to share
her expertise on “all things tech.” Reserve a time slot (7:30 or 8:15 p.m.) and a
date for your one-on-one instruction a.s.a.p. Funding for Tech Talk is provided by
the Friends.
Baby Play Time will be held on Friday, February 5th at 10:00 a.m. Borough children
ages 12-23 months and a parent/caregiver are invited to join Miss Donna for
stories, songs, finger plays and time to play with our toys!
Board Game Afternoon will be held on Friday, February 5th at 3:30 p.m. Miss
Donna invites Borough school-age children to stop in for a snack and some afterschool fun.
The Readers Kaffeeklatsch will meet Tuesday, February 9th at 1:30 p.m. Author
Vince Parrillo will lead a discussion of his latest novel, Defenders of Freedom.
With Ellis Island as the backdrop, Parrillo’s novel is based on actual events which
took place in the early 1900’s. Copies of the book are available at the circulation
desk.
Sensational Science workshops with Miss Rosemary will be held Friday,
February 12th. A morning session for Borough children ages 3-5 will be held at
10:00 a.m.; an afternoon session for Borough children in grades K-4 will be held at
3:30 p.m. Sensational Science is funded by the Friends.
Miss Donna invites members of the Crafty Ladies Club to make candy Valentine
bouquets on Tuesday, February 16th at 1:30 p.m. The Crafty Ladies Club welcomes
new members, so don’t be shy-join in the fun!

Toddler Story Time will be held Friday, February 19th at 10:00 a.m. Borough
two-year-olds and a parent/caregiver are invited to join Miss Donna for
Valentine stories, songs, games and a craft.
After-School Story Time will be held Friday, February 19th at 3:30 p.m. Miss
Donna invites borough children in grades K-4 to listen to Valentine stories and
make an easy craft to take home.
The Age of Adaline will be shown on Tuesday, February 23rd at 1:30 p.m. After
miraculously remaining 29 years old for almost eight decades, Adaline Bowman
has lived a solitary existence, never allowing herself to get close to anyone who
might reveal her secret. But a chance encounter reignites her passion for life
and romance. When a weekend with his parents threatens to uncover the truth,
Adaline makes a decision that will change her life forever. The film runs 109
minutes and is rated PG-13. A Movies Worth Watching presentation, this event
is sponsored by the Friends. Light refreshments will be available. Seating is
limited, so early registration is recommended.
Preschool Story Time will be held Friday, February 26th at 10:00 a.m. Borough
children ages 3-5 are invited to join Miss Donna for Valentine stories, songs,
games and a craft.
The Snack ‘n’ Chat Club will meet on Friday, February 26th at 3:30 p.m. Borough
children in grades 5-8 are invited to join Miss Donna for some after-school fun
featuring “hearty” snacks!
