REQUIREMENTS FOR A MEXICAN VISA
Visas are required for all SA passport holders travelling to Mexico.
CLIENT MUST APPEAR IN PERSON AT THE CONSULATE
Please Note
No visa is required when visiting Mexican ports while on a cruise, for a maximum of three days. If
the stay exceeds the period of three days, a visa is required. Holders of a valid, multiple entry,
B1/B2 type USA visa (any nationality) do not require a visa to enter Mexico. Please note that,
effective June 2016, travellers who are visiting Mexico, who hold a valid, multiple entry visa for the
United States of America, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom or the Schengen countries do not
need to apply for a tourist, business or transit Mexican visa. Additionally, permanent residents in
the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom or the Schengen Space countries who wish
to travel to Mexico do not require a visa to enter Mexico as tourist, transit or business visitors.

Proof of accommodation
All Foreign passport holders must supply a confirmation of pre-booked and pre-paid
accommodation.
Itinerary
Please supply a flight itinerary.
Business Application
An original employment letter from SA Company must be supplied.
Bank Statement
6 (Six) months Bank statements.
Invite Letter
Original Invitation Letter from the company/organization based in Mexico must be addressed to
the Consular Section of the Embassy of Mexico in South Africa requesting the visa and specifying:
1) Exact purpose or activity and length of time for the trip to Mexico
2) How your expenses will be covered.
3) Applicant’s full name.
4) Registration number of the company/organization.
5) Address, complete name and contact information of the company/organization.
A copy of ID of the person who signed the invitation letter.
Supporting Documents
Documents that proof that the visa applicant has the necessary experience, capacity, ability and
knowledge to participate in the activity to which he/she was invited for (original and copy)
Minors
Minors travelling with one parent require a certified letter of consent from the parent not
travelling; minors travelling alone require a certified letter of consent from BOTH parents. All
Minors must have an ORIGINAL unabridged birth certificate.

60km radius of CBD.

Important notice to all travel agents
Kindly ensure that clients travelling to Mexico are advised that the following may be required at
any port of entry into Mexico:
• Proof that they have a minimum of US $50.00 to spend per day, or US $25.00 if they can prove
that their accommodation and meals have been previously paid.
• In case their travel to Mexico is by invitation, a letter from the host is required declaring
themselves liable for such an invitation along with their names, addresses and telephone numbers.
• Please note that non-Mexicans going into Mexico as tourists, on business or migrating will be
charged a Non-Immigrant Migration Fee (DNI) of approximately 150 Mexican pesos per person per
entrance.
• If travelling by air, this fee is paid automatically when purchasing an air ticket with its cost being
charged as "UK". Hence, the air ticket is proof of individual payment.
• If travelling by road, the duty can be paid at Mexican banks in the border areas (some Northern
border corridors for locals visits are exempted).
