IMPORTANT RECYCLING INFORMATION
LAMPS: Crushing of lamps is not permitted in PA under the universal
waste regulations.
BATTERIES: All batteries pose potential hazards during storage
and transportation. There have been numerous incidents where a fire
has occurred resulting from improper packaging of small batteries.
It is imperative that all batteries comply with USDOT packaging
requirements. SYD and Veolia have a legal obligation to ensure that
all batteries are sorted, packaged, shipped, and stored in compliance
with all applicable regulations. These laws require that improperly
packaged batteries be re-packaged before being stored or shipped.
Customer will be assessed additional handling charges for containers
that require this extra service.
All Batteries...
• must be effectively insulated to prevent bare terminals from
coming into contact with other material that can create
evolution of heat and fire through discharge. Taping the
terminals or individually bagging or wrapping each battery are
examples of ways to accomplish proper insulation.
• must be sorted by type. Additional charges will apply for
unsorted batteries
• are charged on a per pound basis by battery type

We strongly recommend reusing boxes from new lamp
purchases for lamp recycling. SYD can provide empty boxes for
a nominal charge.
TO MAKE A REQUEST FOR PICK-UP:
• Items must be separated by type, then counted or weighed
• Affix an orange recycling label on each container
•Place order for pick up by calling SYD Sales and provide
customer name, lamp/ballast/battery type, address of pick up,
and quantity or weight if known
• If the weight of ballasts/batteries is unknown use 1 lb. on the
packing slip. SYD will weigh and enter correct amount when
received at warehouse
•All containers must be sealed and packed securely for
transporting. If skidding, place the heaviest items on the bottom
with lamps on top. ALL boxes must be taped / sealed closed.
No loose lamps will be accepted! If they are not in a box, we
will not pick up the order. SYD driver has the right to refuse
pick-up if the shipment is not packaged properly
• Containers that are wet, torn, or in poor condition will be refused
• SYD will pick up your recycling order and leave a copy of the
packing slip for your records
• Lithium batteries must be taped and packed separately
• If SYD must repack, sort, skid, etc. after we pick up the order,
a repacking fee will be charged
• The product will be invoiced after quantities, product sorting,
and packing has been approved. This invoice serves as a
certificate of recycling. Any additional documentation requested
will be provided if available at a rate of $75 per hour
• A recycling trailer is available for large projects
