What hazardous wastes are found in medical and dental offices?

s i l v e r i n a ccncentration c f 5 mc/l or rncre, or d ~ n t f i lwaste which leaches

What m I required t o do as a hazardous waste generator?
If t k mcunt o f hazzrdcus KzsTe you produce in a mcnths t i m ~i s less t h a n
25 gallons, you q u z l i f y as a Very Smell Quantity Generator (VSQG). As a
YSQS, you zre required t o r e z i s t e r w i t h the Massachusetts Department of
E n v i r ~ n r s n t a l Q u a 1 i t y Engineering (DECjE) , label your wzste as hazardcus, and
s h ~ pi t w i t h a licens3d hzzzrdcus waste hauler or precious metal transporter

What are r y disposal options?

For
information about recycling options, c a l l DEQE 617-292-5786 or 5905.
I f your s i l v e r recovery equipment i s hard-piped and connected t o the
photoprocessor, you are currently exeni~tfrom r-riycling permits.

Ycu r z y ship your s i l v e r waste t o a reclaimer. Attached i s a l i s t of
precious metal transporters. Be aware t h a t i t i s your responsibility as
generator of t h e waste t o know where your waste i s gcing and how i t i s
handled. Mcst of these transporters have not yet been f u l l y licensed
by D E Q E .

If you are a registered VSQG, you may transport your waste t o ancther
g e w r a t o r or receiving f a c i l i t y as long as you carry your VSOG registration
i n your vehicle, dc n o t transport rncre t h a n 55 gallons a t a time, obtain
a recei;t f o r your wasLe and retain your receipts f o r a t least three years.
