PARISH NEWS
YOUNG ADULTS (ages 18-35)!!!
Join us on Tuesdays at 7pm at the
Family Life Center (9 Saint Teresa
Drive). For more information, like
our page (www.facebook.com/
blsacYAM) or contact Sarah Anderson at 843-2912733 or [email protected].
ALTAR SERVERS: Thank you to our servers.
This is a crucial ministry for our parish. We encourage those considering altar serving to become
a part of this service group! We are in need of
more committed altar servers. Parents, please be
sure that your child is present when scheduled, or
he/she gets a substitute. We are having problems
with this.
For new servers: You must be at the end of third
grade, received your First Communion, and come
to at least two practices to begin serving. Coming
to more than two practices is a great idea if you
can.
For those who have served two years or less - come
to one practice.
The scheduled practices are:
Saturday, May 20 (8:00-9:00 a.m.)
Tuesday, May 23 (2:40-3:45 p.m.)
Wednesday, May 24 (5:30-6:30 p.m.)
TODDLER NURSERY AT THE
9AM AND 11AM MASSES: We

Thank you for supporting this
wonderful ministry. In the summer months, only
the 11am nursery will be available (June, July &
August). Please note: no toddler nursery on Sunday, May 28, July 2 or September 3.
SAVE THE DATE FOR A SOUTHERN SOIREE
which will benefit BSCS Annual Fund. The event

southern fun! Live music, open bar, and low country cuisine. The evening will include a silent and

May is the month dedicated to Mary. Students in all grades (K3-8th) were part of the May
Crowning and adored Our Holy Mother with flowers. The 1st Communicants led the procession as Mary was crowned with a wreath of flowers by two of the second graders.
Bring flowers of the fairest, bring flowers of the rarest, from garden and woodland and
hillside and vale … the praise of the loveliest rose of the vale. O Mary, we crown thee with
blossoms today, Queen of the Angels, Queen of the May. (Mary E. Walsh, circa 1981)
In the not-too-distant future, the BSCS
campus will be blessed with the addition of a Rosary Garden. This special
place is the Eagle Scout project of Harper Kissell, a rising 8th grader. The area where the garden will be located was blessed by Father Joseph and Deacon Kurt. Thank you, Harper, and congratulations
on your pending Eagle Scout award!

va a asumir;
impuesta o declarada;
5. no sea el padre o la madre de quien se ha de
bautizar” (874 § 1).
Vida cristiana coh erent e
a padrinos:
a casar),
confesiones religiosas), etc.
E indirectamente quedan excluidos quienes no practican la
fe.

RESPECT LIFE
TODAY'S READINGS: "When our
Lord promises in today's Gospel
passage, 'I will come to you,' he is
referring to the presence of his Holy
Spirit, who does not bring a new
divinity or a new Gospel, but rather
precisely the presence of Jesus Christ. The Lord's
constant promise of 'life' comes to fulfillment with
the outpouring of the Spirit of Life; therefore Jesus
can say, 'I live and you will live.'
The victory of Christ over death is shared with all
his people: He brings our humanity to the heights
of heaven and pours out his life-giving Spirit.
The truth brought out in today's passage regarding
the 'Advocate' is also crucial to the Church's role in
building the Culture of Life. Jesus Christ himself
is our first Advocate (see 1 John 2:1 - 'If anyone
does sin, we have an Advocate with the Father,
Jesus Christ the righteous one').
Now, that
Advocate is promising us 'Another Advocate' who
will be with us always - the Holy Spirit. Indeed,
the Spirit advocates for us in the heights of heaven,
that all the power of the redemptive work of Christ
might have its full effect.
But if the Spirit, who is an Advocate, fill us, he
makes us advocates! He gives speech to the tongue,
as we will see even more powerfully at Pentecost.
He makes us advocates for the helpless, just as he
advocates for us when we cannot save ourselves.
The pro-life work of the People of God springs from
this aspect of the Holy Spirit, who makes us
advocates for those who cannot speak for
themselves - the unborn and all the
vulnerable." (www.priestsforlife.org)
