*CALL TO CONFESSION
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Unison)
Gracious God, forgive us our sins, failures and mistakes. Forgive us for
leaving undone those things which we ought to have done; the unspoken
word of grace, the helping hand not offered, deeds of love not carried out.
And forgive us for doing those things which we ought not to have done;
hoarding that which you would have us share, holding onto prejudices,
judging others. Breathe your loving and forgiving Spirit into each and into
all, that we might ever become your people. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

Creed of the United Church of Canada (Reformed)
We are not alone, we live in God’s world. We believe in God: who has
created and is creating, who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh, to
reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit. We trust
in God. We are called to be the Church: to celebrate God’s presence, to live
with respect in Creation, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist
evil, to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope. In life, in
death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone. Thanks be to
God.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE ... The Lord’s Prayer
During the Prayers of the People there will be a time of silence. You are invited to use
this time for personal reflection, confession, thanksgiving, and prayer.
Welcome to Westminster Church! We are a family of Christians gathered from many
traditions and neighborhoods, worshiping here with the goal of connecting faith and life. If
you are a visitor, we pray you will feel welcome and blessed by our worship. We invite you to
consider making Westminster your church home. Please let us have your contact information
so we may be in touch.
Children are welcome in worship here. A nursery is available during the entire service.
When the prelude begins let us quietly prepare for the worship of almighty God.

BENJAMIN BRITTEN’S ALPINE SUITE was composed in February 1955 during a
skiing holiday in Zermatt. It is dedicated to the artist and recorder player Mary
Potter, a friend from the Aldeburgh Music Club, who had injured her ankle on the
first day of the trip (the suite was composed to give her something to enjoy playing
during her recuperation). Though Britten, aside from composing, was also known as
a conductor, pianist, and violist, he played the recorder, having been persuaded to
learn to play it by his friend and collaborator Imogen Holst, daughter of composer
Gustav Holst. In addition to Alpine Suite and Scherzo (for four recorders, composed in
1954), he also included recorders in two of his operas: Noye’s Fludde (1957) and A
Midsummer Night’s Dream (1960). Britten served as President of the Society of
Recorder Players from 1958 to 1976.

Cook-Off With A Twist
Sunday, March 5
5:00 p.m.
The youth are hosting another of their famously delicious Chili/Soup and Dessert
cook-offs on Sunday, March 5. This one has a wonderful ”twist.” It's at dinner time!
We are partnering with the Maryville College Choir to bring you a “two-fer” event.
First, we'll enjoy a fabulous cook-off meal, and those that wish can hear Maryville’s
opening concert to kick off their annual spring choir tour. Our own Sam Phillips will
be featured in the performance.
Everyone is invited to join us for the meal, and to vote for your favorites. Sign-ups
will begin soon for soup, chili and dessert entries.
Cook-off proceeds will benefit our Stop Hunger Now project. Thanks for supporting
Westminster's youth (and their BIG-idea service projects!)
PROGRESSIVE DINNER: Sign-ups are
underway for our March 24th Progressive
Dinner. Please sign up in the Schilling Gallery.
Our meal will be catered by Naples Italian
Restaurant.
