VETERANS MEMORIAL BUILDING
Eastern Iowa Chapter IFMA will be holding their October 14th meeting and
program at the Veterans Memorial Building in Cedar Rapids.
The Veterans Memorial Building on Mays Island in Cedar Rapids, was severely
damaged in the 2008 flood. The facility had been used for the City of Cedar
Rapids city hall, government offices, and chamber of commerce., plus a largely
unused auditorium. Following the flood, Alt Architecture was hired by the
Cedar Rapids Veterans Commission to restore the building and reprogram the
interior, providing space for Veterans as well as community use. See page 3 for
more details!

Certified Facility Manager® (CFM) – Preparation Program
Certified Facility Manager® (CFM) Preparation program – the first ever
IFMA FM Learning System® offered through a university. As CFM is a global
designation, we feel the best way to offer the course is over the internet. All
classes will be recorded and converted into MP3 and MP4 formats to accommodate the schedules of busy IFMA professionals.
The inaugural class will be held over 13 Wednesdays, 6-9 p.m. Central Time,
from Oct. 8 2014 – to January 14, 2015. (No class December 24, 31). As enrollment directly reflects the demand for the CFM designation, we need your
help to make this a success. Any postings to your chapter members or social
media groups would be greatly appreciated.

The new building houses a military museum, a fully restored auditorium with seating for 2,000 people, a conference
center with spaces specifically designed for Veteran peer mentoring and therapeutic workshops, offices for
behavioral and physical therapy for Veterans, a food pantry for homeless Veterans, a ballroom, a restaurant, a
serving kitchen that can cater to a group of 500 guests, and offices.
