Angles Definition: An angle has two sides and a vertex The sides of the angles are rays. The rays share a common endpoint (the vertex) Angles are measured in units called degrees Example: o An angle can be named by using the 3 letters in this order: a point on a ray, the vertex, and a point on the other ray: XYZ or ZYX o An angle can also be named by using one letter at the vertex Y Types of Angles: Types of Lines: When lines meet to form right angles, then they are classified as perpendicular lines. Perpendicular Lines Lines that cross and have one point in common are called intersecting lines. Intersecting Lines Lines that are side by side, never intersect, are always the same distance apart, and do not share any points are called parallel lines. Example:
