Miss Dorothy Ivonkel has returned home from the Methodist hospital , Brooklyn , to recuperate for two weeks when she will return to the hospital for an operation. Mrs. Alvin Smith was hostess to the C. 0. D. S. club yesterday at her home on Smith street . Traffi c over the week-end on the Middle Country road was very heavy for this early in the season. - Mr. and Mis; George Williams of Centereach are parents of a son, born Saturday in the Holbrook hospital. Miss Vera Smith . entertained a few of her friends at her home yesterday in honor of her birthday. • ¦Herbert Lindreth " of Flushing and Mrs, Lindreth of Brooklyn are at their summer home for the season. The 4-H Juniors met at- the' home of Marion Smith last Wednesday afternoon. After refreshments were served , the girls sewed on smocks and aprons. Lessons were also given on introducing people. The name "Hub Dub" was selected as the club name. * Another meeting will be held at the home of Muriel Overton next Wednesday. Plans are being made for an exhibition of the girls' work at a future meeting of the CenterLadies' auxeach Fire department ¦ iliary. - - •' Mrs. Albert Campbell was hostess at a dessert-bridge -party Friday afternoon for Mrs. Earl Anderson and a friend of Valley Stream. Mrs. Anderson was formerly of Centereach. Those present were Mrs. John Pearl , Miss Alice Rogers, Mrs. Arthur Murray, Mrs. Alvin Smith , Mrs. Dolphus Luce and Mrs. Albert Quattlander. Those winning prizes were Mrs. Andei-son, Mrs. Quattlander and Mrs. Murray . A large delegation from the Melville church attended the Congregational church here Sunday ni&'ht. The Rev. Herbert Elliott preached. The guests brought musicians and soloists with them from Amityville and Brooklyn , as well as from Melville. The Rev. Walter D. Britt of Middle Island and New York was also present. Mr. Britt will , be the speaker in the church next Sunday night. The Bible school was hel d Monday night this week to allow the member's to attend the Houghton College choir program conducted in Stony Brook last night by Wilfred C. Bain. Mrs. Florence Dickey of the Home bureau will come to Centereach Parish hall to give a clothing lesson April 20 , instead of today. Dr. Miller has been practicing for SO years. His wife, Dr. Kate Miller , may also claim some distinction a's a practicing physician and surgeon. Dr. Miller exports to open his office here about May 1, devoting a few days each weok to local practice. He was accompanied Sunday by his wife and two children , Josephine and Robert , and Edward Freeman of Jackson Heights. Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Gittler. and their daughter Helen of 107-43 128th street, Richmond Hill , spent the week-end at their home on Coleman road. Mr. Gittler and his family expect to be here every week-end until June at which time they will come out for the season, Mr. Gittler commuting to his business. Walter Blank was their guest over the week-end. Mr. and" Mrs. Paul Carl of 95-14 Jamaica avenue, Woodhaven , began their week-end visits to their summer cottage on Coleman road this week. Two years ago , Mrs. Carl suffered severe attacks of asthma. She was advised to try this climate, the result being so pleasing that now Mr. Caid built a home here to which they come as often as business pei-mits. Charles Rubino and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Rubino of 69-26, Woodh aven boulevard , Forest Hills, were in town this week-end , preparing their summer home for their seasonal visits. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Werneburg were busily engaged this week-end in painting and improving their summer home here. Mr. Werneburg's occupation as carpenter in the city department of hospitals on Welfare Island, which position he has held for 32 years, permits him only weekend visits at present. However , he owns enough property on Smithtown boulevard to build a permanent residence for which he is making plans now. Preparing for their summer visits here were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Larson of 28'8 Harmon street, Ridgewood. Mrs. John Luce and son , John , Jr., of Larchmont were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dolphus Luce of Smith street Thursday. On their return home they were accompanied by Mrs. Emily G. Hutson, who was their guest for several days. Mrs. Henry Neus of Lake Grove boulevard was visited last week by her mother, Mrs. Macone of Flushing. Bernard Williams , leader of the Boy Scouts in Centereach , attended his first class in a course for scoutmasters at the Central Islip High school Thursday. The classes are to be held every Thursday. R. P. Anderson , Scout executive for Suffolk county, will speak at the Boy Scouts' meeting tonight at the school. A delegation of five men attended a meeting of the Brookhaven Town Volunteer Firemen association last Wednesday night held at Bellport. Arthur Murray was appointed head of this year's tournament committee , Francis Mo'en was appointed chairman of the annual dinner committee, and John Pearl was elected first vice-president. A meeting of the by-l aws committee of the newly organized Centereach Taxpayers' association was held last Wednesday night. The members of this committee are T, J.
