affa, a childhood friend of my mother's, was always there through the good times and the hard - despite physical
distance. When Batya v"g was suddenly taken from us,
Yaffa was on the next plane from Yerushalayim to New
York. She arrived at our door, with her love and wisdom. Her warm
words soothed, giving perspective and direction.
A few years later, illness struck, but Yaffa’s strength of spirit did not
allow it to overwhelm her. It wasn't long before she spearheaded a Yad

branch quickly became independently successful, a rcs oa among the
needy of our holy city. Masterfully, Yaffa held the strings to this growing
chesed organization, enlisting friends and family as volunteers in its
activities. Her magnetic personality inspired people to involve
themselves in vesm andsxj.
Talented and charismatic, Yaffa was a compelling teacher for nearly
forty-five years. Thousands of students remember how she imparted
eternal lessons from her wellsprings of optimism and enthusiasm.
In recent years, despite physical weakness as the illness progressed,
Yaffa continued to shine as she delivered ohrugha and ran Yad Batya
L’Kallah with the same devotion and intensity. To see her, was to see a

Until the very last moment, Yaffa did not allow for negativity, embracing

Etched in my Heart - A Niece’s Thoughts
My aunt Batya has always been a part of my life. Since my early
childhood, I’ve known Batya; I’ve seen her face countless times in
photos around my home. I know the stories of her life, of the past,
and of the present; because Batya’s life continues in all of our hearts.
Batya is a part of our conversations; we laugh at the silly things she
did and learn about her love of life and chesed which are so evident
in her sparkling smile. My siblings and I constantly hear how we
resemble our aunt in so many ways. Even my four-year-old sister can
identify Batya's picture and tell you that she is in shamayim with
Hashem. Only her physical presence is missing.
As I grew older, I began to help my mother with Yad Batya L’Kallah.
I can clearly remember my very first YBLK call. One night, a
woman called for information about the Yad Batya package.
When I saw that my mother was too busy to take the call, I thought
to myself, “I've heard my mother give this information countless
times before, I can do it,” and I did. When I hung up the phone,
my excitement was palpable! As I ponder those moments, I realize
– this was Batya! Love of chesed! Love of giving, to the point where the beneficiary is doing you a favor! I can never
thank that woman on the phone, but she was catalyst, the catalyst that inspired my love for doing chesed.
When I speak to people on the phone now, they thank the organization, my extraordinary parents and grandparents.
I respond with my thanks for giving us the opportunity to bring an illui neshama to Batya above and continue her
everlasting legacy below.
Batya is a profound part of my life and that is why it is so ironic that we never actually met. But in truth, we do;
everyday, with every phone call, with every message taken, we meet.
Love,
Miriam
HEART TO HEART
Twenty years ago, when the ,ntv ihhs chose to reclaim the neshama of Batya, a”h, our friends and family fervently sought
a means to perpetuate her memory. We desperately wished that the passage of time would never sever the bond between
our special daughter and us.
Through the years, we have found solace in knowing that within our edifice of chesed, Batya's legacy lives on; her warm
smile, vivacious personality, and ahavas habrios continue to permeate our lives. Yad Batya L'Kallah serves as the golden
link keeping us ever close, ever connected, never apart. Yours have been among the hands that have slowly and securely
erected this bridge - and for this, as Batya's parents, we are most grateful.
Now, two decades later, while we await moshiach, your helping YAD, joined with Yad Batya L’Kallah, is most significant.
More then ever, parents like us struggle to marry of their daughters. With your help, we will surely help build ohkaurh
,ucruj, by bringing simcha to many kallahs.
With our heartfelt thanks,
Moish and Venezia Zakheim
HAVE A HEART An Appeal To Fathers
This message is addressed to all the lucky fathers of kallah's, who b'chasdei hashem, only experiance joy and excitement
when providing their daughter's innumerable bridal needs.
We appeal to you, dear, generous fathers, who have anticipated these marvelous moments, and will stop at nothing to
ensure your family's happiness.
As these warm and wonderful times engulf you, please keep in mind the countless fathers who reach into their pockets
only to find them empty. Remember the heads of families who wish they were able to satisfy the minimal needs of their
beloved daughters at what should be the happiest times of their lives.
Can you help Yad Batya L'Kallah fill their need?

HEARTS OF GOLD
Hearts of Gold This year, at the annual YBLK Gala Benefit,
we will proudly honor a couple that is very close to our
hearts, Tuvia and Leah Weber. At Yad Batya L'Kallah's
inception, Mr. Weber was only one of the many suppliers of
the components of the package we distribute. Within a short
time however, Tuvia began taking a more personal interest in
the organization - offering ideas and advice, and involving
his lovely and very capable wife too. Mr. Weber continually
helps us upgrade the value of the YBLK package, while trying
to keep costs down. He constantly takes time from his busy
schedule to find us better deals, nicer china, door prizes for
our events, and a myriad of other things. Leah has chaired
some of YBLK's most successful fund-raisers, and has
overseen the décor for other evenings. Along with some
amazingly talented friends and family, she would transform
the evening into a show-stopping event. Tuvia and Leah
Weber's selfless dedication, constant caring, and guidance
have become an integral part of Yad Batya L'Kallah . Please
join us on Tuesday, February 5th to honor this exceptional
couple, as we celebrate two decades of chesed and
hachnosas kallah.
Dear Yad Batya L'Kallah,
Dear Yad Batya L’Kallah,
Our Morah decided that every Rosh Chodesh, we will empty
our tzedakah box and give the money to a special organization.
Our Morah told us about the wonderful things you buy for
kallahs who are in need, and that you help over 800 kallahs a
year from all parts of the United States and Israel. From dishes
to pots, linens, towels, etc. it sounds like you make these girls
very happy!
I’m writing to let you know what an unbelievable mitzvah
you’ve done. Recently, a friend of mine became a kallah...
She has had an extraordinarily complicated and difficult home
life. In addition, the financial situation is extremely strained,
and her parents cannot afford her wedding necessities.
We hope that the money we collected will help a kallah build
her bayis ne'eman.
Thank you.
The children of Room 9 at The HALB Lev Chana Preschool
We received a generous package from your remarkable
organization, and combined with the gifts we bought, were able
to make our friend a really beautiful shower. There are no words
to properly describe the kallah’s absolute joy at her surprise.
After opening her gifts and realizing what she had received, she
cried with happiness. I still get the chills when I picture her face
at that moment.
Your selfless chesed has ensured that a special girl who has had
such a difficult life received what every kallah should have, bli
tza’ar, bli busha – without pain, without shame. Such is the
power of gemilas chesed. May Hashem reward you and give
you lasting nechoma.
